Ok, lets see if I have my links down! lol...

Earlier this summer I had the champion photo at our local fair. Then I decided I wanted to take on the "big boys" at the county fair in Rochester, MN -- Olmsted County.

Guess what? I walked away with the champion shot -- a whole different shot than the earlier winner. It was one I'd taken a week or two earlier.

I think the framing makes a world of difference. I tried to imitate the matting I had on it. At first I used white. ugh!

If you actually took a picture of a broken colored piece of paper on a large orangish background, I apologize.

windwalker put the pic on his own server, sarge on TT's. Webshots does something to make it a hassle at minimum

Webshots doesn't allow "hot linking" to photos on their site. Not sure which ones do allow you link to them.

Lizs - If you place your pictures in an album on this site at "pictures," you can get them to show. Likewise, there have been other sites mentioned that will allow it. But Web Shots does not seem to allow it.

CONGRATULATIONS.

Here's a link to the wild horse sanctuary. I see they're updating their website...

http://www.gwtc.net/~iram/

It was the best! Crazy, wild west land where scenes were filmed from Turner's "Crazy Horse" and "Hidalgo" (the Wounded Knee Indian village). I have more pictures I'll need to post at some time.

The Cheyenne River flows in all four directions there and its considered a holy spot by the Lakota and other Indians. They hold a sun dance there yearly. That was one spot they didn't let us get off the bus tour, but I did get a shot of it against stormy skies.

There's a huge section of Indian rock art in one area.

Oh, but this was the killer, lol. We went there as part of the volunteer Passport in Time project. Our guide/bus driver was this totally, god-awfully politically incorrect woman!

Regarding the subject of my horse photo, she remarked to the bus full of people: "See that black foal nursing that white mama? I had someone on a tour from Chicago tell me, 'We've got a lot of that where I'm from.'"

Wow, that was about the 10th time our mouths all dropped open! Another time she was telling a joke about a Catholic and an Indian. She said, well, just so you don't get all upset about this it's about the dumb Indian, not the Catholic.

OH YEAH! And at the sundance area she pondered on Native American religion and how if her dad wanted to dry out, he didn't (go stand in the sun or whatever the hell she said).

We were truly horrified!!

Our tours were free, but it was suggested we bring money to "contribute." It's a $20 tour. I gave $10. Later I asked if our director had given the money to the tour guide or to someone else there. She said someone else. I said, "Whew! I feel a lot better, because if you had given it to her, it would have been a TIP!" (and had I been sure where it was going, I would have given more.)

Anyhoo, I highly recommend this tour on the really rugged land south of Hot Springs, SD.
