Favorite brand socks?

I have gone through a socks evolution. (I KNOW you are ANXIOUSLY awaiting my picks, uh huh!) ;-P

When I first started backpacking, I used Thorlos.

Then I moved on to Smartwool, which I still like fairly well.

But I'd have to say my favorite socks now are by Fox River. They don't necessarily look as "cushy" as the Smartwools, maybe slightly less bulky. But I like'em best!

And I use these stupid, cheap "George" polyester anklet type things (from the cheap-@ss store that begins with "W") for my liner socks.

Other favs?

I use to use Smartwool, but....
I've found that Cosco has Head socks that are close to Smartwool. They "pill" a little faster and don't really last quite as long BUT you can get three pair for $9.00. They are all I've used for the last 4 years.

Cosco rocks!

I have used Smartwool for ages, but they are expensive as hell. I have a few pair that have lasted a long time, but I'll watch this thread for other brands to look at when I replace them.

ok, i have to throw in my "thrifty" 2 cents...plane ol Wilson cotton sport socks from Sprawl-Mart, 3 pair for $6.00, have worked fine for me...i can only remember getting blisters one time and i think that was due to some new insoles

I like both Thorlos and Smart Wool. Wigwam for sock liners.

Now that I think of it I use Thorlos for my running socks. I have for years and years. They are outstanding.

I have used both smartwools and thorlos. The smartwools wear out faster in my experience. Now I buy the REI version of smartwools. Much less expensive, same quality.
My all time favorite summer hiking socks are some white polyester anklets I got at our uniform store. They're labeled "nurse's socks" and are extremely inexpensive. They turn grey pretty quick but last forever.
