My basement is open at the level of my backyard so I count that as a "story".
I have a basement, living/kitchen floor, and the upstairs bedrooms.”

“Hi Nigal, I'm a little wet but things are drying out. The living area of my house got 14" of sea water in it. The basement was completely flooded, and my garage got nearly 3 feet. My boats were floating around inside the garage. Thank God the door held. I still have my kayaks!”

When I ran to my folks to ride the storm out with them, I took the most important stuff:
my backpacking gear, my CDs, and my computer. LOL

The Man who died in NO at the refinery was a coworkers cousin, and I'm riding shotgun down to the funeral...then on to Kiln MS, to help with cleanup, deliver supplies, and spell a friend who has been guarding his homeplace from looters....

Since Stovie is alright I may or may not attempt to see the house on Wednesday...Stovie could you email me your Cell phone number in case? Would love to come by and twist your arm over the roofing team idea, and get your take on the color, style and pattern of shingles we'd need...just email the number to my addy in the profile...thx...”

“Posting from Radio Shack in Hammond LA...

Came down I 59 to 49 then south on 603 to Kiln and Waveland...Started to see the dammage just south of
laurel, trees gone, guardrails dented from the down trees...then south of Hattieburg, on the left of I59 there is a staging area for FEMA with HUNDREDS of RV's in a field, waiting to be used for emergency shelter for Evacuees.

Got to Kiln, just north of Waveland and I10...Best I can tell you is imagine a typical interstate Uverpass, and then picture the high water mark just a foot from the overhead roadway....

Waveland is GONE....20 miles in from the gulf there are large boats, refrigerator unit, and ENTIRE houses that were floated inland....

I am just north of I12 near Baton Rouge...the population here has DOUBLED since the storm, HUGE presence of FEMA, Nation Guard, Police and fire...Saw long convoys of US Corps of Engineers contracted Disaster Cleanup companies out of Florida heading into NO.

Should be heading over to Gautier in the morning, I'm going to try and find Stovie's House on the way through....
