This looked kinda neat. And it has bping potential, so had to post it. Inflate it all the way while you are sipping your coffee in camp, then deflate as needed once you hit the trail and warm up.

Don't you love a backpacking board that has 100 posts on a political thread, and none on a gear thread?

It looks interesting. Lot's of questions come up.

Thrifty asks a good question. I'm especially interested in how it would holdup to weight and wear when it is very cold.

Also: How much do prodfucts that use it weigh?

I'm looking for a gear report from someone who uses it. Apparently, there are already companies with products on the way.

Thanks for the heads up tech!

As Ped said, I'd like to see the weight and temp rating. Would it compress in cold weather like other inflatables do? IE. Bike tires, basketballs, etc...

Will be interesting to field test one.

I gotta wonder how well it works. Air is a good insulator when you break it up into lots of little spaces. That doesn't look like a lot of little spaces to me, unless they've got some kind of material inside the inflatable bladders.

REI Carries this one....
Or Maybe Bass Proshops...don't remember, 'cept I was in both places the day I saw it.....

It's fleece lined, no other insulation I could see...

wouldn't it get all wet? from blowing your moisture laden breath into it all day? or is your breath not wet enough to do that? i know they say not to blow air into your pad when it's real cold out cause of that.

I've read pad instructions that say "don't" and some that say "do".
