ooops - nice spelling! :P
For anyone donating to the Katrina fund - make sure you check your company's policy for donations. Many larger companies have a system in place to match your donations. Mine will match anywhere from $25-1000.00! For my friends who don't work at such a company, I take up a collection with their contributions and donate on their behalf - presto! A hundred bucks becomes 2 and so forth. Just some food for thought...

Also, for every 50 hours of time I donate to select charities, a $500 donation is made to that charity on my behalf. (I just found that out - it is not widely known within the company)
Dig through those employee manuals and see what you find! It couldn't hurt.

peace.

time spent packing up supplies this weekend will count towards the 50hrs, so essentially it will still be a case of "time is money." Every little bit helps.

wow - looky here!
For anyone who does not work for a company with a matching gifts program, the following will match or otherwise contribute based on non-employeedonations:

McDonald's and Lowe's will each match in-store contributions up to $2 million.

Best Buy will match in-store donations made by Sept. 30 up to $1 million.

Warner Bros. Entertainment will match viewers donations up to $500,000.

American Express will pay out $1 for every donation made with an American Express card to more than 30 listed charities.

The Knights of Colombus, a Catholic organization, will match contributions in excess of $2.5 million made in the next two months.

Self-serving or not, everyone is doing a little and that is something. Fantastic! :)
