We have 15 more spots left; there will be a live draft at 9 PM EDT (6 PM PDT) on Thu 15 Sep 2005, the night before the actual NHL preseason begins.

Also, If you decide to join, you are advised pre-rank your players before the draft in case you can't be present for the draft for whatever reason. This way, players can still be assigned to you based on your ranking and their availability.

“I logged on to the Trail Talk Fantasy Hockey League only to find it was rotisserie scoring rather than the head to head I was looking for. I played rotisserie in the past and didn't enjoy it much.

Plus, it appears as if I'll be forced to miss the live draft. Ophelia is expected to hit the Outer Banks on Wednesday and we're expecting to be without power for awhile, or should it gain strength we'll be evacuating.

“Hi folks -- better late than never, eh? I've been having some trouble getting set up the way I wanted to because Yahoo evidently ran out of draft slots for live drafting. I did some shopping around, and just didn't find anything that seemed to work as well as the Yahoo league we had last year, so here's what I got for ya:

TrailTalk Hockey League Season II will commence on Wed 4 Oct 2006. Same rules as last year, except that we will have to settle for an auto-draft, since there are no non-middle-of-the-night slots left. This means that we will all have to rank a whole bunch of players and the system will automatically assign them to us based on its draft lottery. Further details can be found by poking around the league website.

“Well, I'd like to submit a draft by 4 October in time for the actual season to begin, but Yahoo appears to be accepting league drafts until 17 November. Of course if I submit our drafts after the actual NHL season opens on 4 October, all points acquired by the players would be applied retroactively.

“Tango, maybe we can try something new. Give TTers the availability to join, but then open it up to others. If we only want TTers, then maybe we can add more positions. Like three of each C, LW and RW, and maybe 6 D. Or keep the same stuff but add a few forward positions. Basically customizing it based on the number of teams.”

I can take over the Commish reigns from Phantomsoul. The past few years we have done this as a rotisserie league, but we have the option of a points based league where each category is given a designated number of points (ie...goals are worth 2 points, assists worth one point, etc.). So that is something to consider. Also, live draft (if I can get one) or not? PLease feel free to add your input.”

“Unfortunately all the live draft times were taken. I did the autopick draft. Depending on the number of teams that sign up, I will adjust the number of starting positions per team. Last year we had four all-star teams. This way there is some competition.

“ox, maybe we could drop the "Can't Cut List". It seems that in the past the list remains almost the entire season. It really sucks when a top tier player is injured early and you're stuck with him taking up a roster spot. If you're worried about someone dropping their entire team, maybe institute a 2 day waiver period so anyone could try to get the crumbs.
