Well not really
But the sheep did end up moving into their pasture because of us.

Here are the pics:

You are breaking my heart. That's the area I first hunted in Wyoming and was always my favorite place to go play. Johnathan was catching brookies out of the little stream feeding Mud Lake about the same time he graduated to big boy underwear. We still laugh every time we remember Johnathan growing tired of Beauregard's (6 month old choclate lab) antics on that trip and applying a little corrective encouragement to Beau's head with a mini mag lite. The thunk from the back seat was authoratative, and Beau seemed to settle right in after that!

That is a beautiful trip. I'm extremely jealous. I got into a pickle on Boulter lake in February of the last year we lived in WY. Learned some hard lessons. . .

Thanks for sharing.

Roam, there are grazing rights in the Bridger Wilderness, so sometimes you run into to sheep up there. We also saw a few real shepherds ridin' around up there while we were at Skull Lake.

Don't let those mountain sheep fool you. They spend most of the year fending for themselves, and are quite a bit tougher than their more domesticated brethren. A group of shearers (I wish I could remember which part of Spain they come from) comes through once a year to shear. Apparently no normal person will get in the corral with these sheep. Biting, kicking and general meanness is reputed to be the standard. All of this is second hand, but was told in a very believable fashion. There are lots of jokes about those herders. It would definitely be a lonely lifestyle. . .

Stop in Farson for ice cream.. Don't ask where, there's only one place to stop at. While you're at it go by Okies bar, the only establishment in Eden (1 mile down the road). Just bring your own gun. No real danger, but it makes you fit in better with the locals.

Good grief I miss WY.

If you stop there you better like ice cream, they really pile it on.

Great pics. I did some of the same loop with my girlfriend on a 5 nighter in August 2001. We did Hailey's pass in reverse. It steep going down, but I'm not sure if I would want to go up it. I decided then that the note on the map was serious, "not passable by livestock."

We did a 12 day trip but didn't do Hailey's Pass. We continued up to Green River. One of my favorite trips! Great photos!

Great pics. How where the bugs while you where there? I remeber the skeeters being almost intollerable at lower elevations. Once you got north of the Cirque did you run into many people? in 99 i took a 8 day trip to the winds and went 5 days without seeing anyone. Such a beautiful place hopefully i will make it back soon

The bugs weren't bad at all this late in the year, I didn't get bit once, actually didn't even notice them. We didn't see many people between Lizard Head Meadows and Hailey pass, maybe only one or two at Grave Lake.
