Search & Rescue
A friend's son is a Search & Rescue Team member out of Denver. He sent a link to this clip with, "This is why I do it."

This lost hiker's story ends happily and during this interview he has some great comments that everyone who hikes should hear.

As the sarge always said at the beginning of the old HIll Street Blues series, "Be careful out there!"

LOL...I was working a case today and looked at my watch 3PM...I had an english muffin at 5 AM.

So I opened the back of my truck, pulled out a can of tuna, a packet of relish and a packet of mayo, opened up my knife and mixed it all up in the tuna can, and sat there eating some saltines with the trail tunafish salad. One of the firefighters working the scene walks up and says,"Whasat?" I told him..he grabbed a cracker and took some tuna....took a bite and said,"Wow thats actually edible."

I am so glad I backpack...or I wouldn't carry a couple spare meals like that in the truck.

I found a good way to have a quick meal while waiting for an airplane....

Bring one of your Ziploc baggie meals or one of those freeze-dried meals with you to the airport. After passing through security, there are almost always coffee shops or some place that serves hot water--ask for a cup and some hot water and voila, you have the ingredients for a hot snack to tide you over.

Sure beats paying $10 for a sandwich...

I did this when returning from a trip out west--was kind of on a personal budget, so I brought some of the freeze dried meals with me on my trip instead of eating out... it saved me a few dollars and I found that the coffee shops were pretty nice about giving out a cup of hot water....

Way to go XL! that combo is one of my faves. I just add a dash of hot sauce. (Pilfered from the nearest WaWa.)

OMG PB! you could do that with the Mountainhouse meals and thy feed two people. Imagine having Pasta Primavera @ the Airport. Mmmmmmmmmm!

I don't remember which brand I had, but it was one that we had decided to test out-- and was mighty tasty... :-)

My hubby, Thinkbubelz can't tolerate onions, so we generally have to stick to things like veggie Pasta primaveras or macaroni & cheese, etc.... (no spaghetti for us... that would be asking for disaster...)

I'm not a huge fan of ramen, but I do keep a few packs at work--I'll mix it up with some Trader Joe's instant miso soup (throwing away the MSG laden "soup pack") and freeze-dried "just veggies" and it makes for a quick lunch when I don't have time (or money) to get a real meal... :-)
