Mt. Whitney Area Hike with Snow Nymph :) Fun Day!View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 5 of 5 messages posted.
“What a beautiful part of the Sierra's! I have not been to the Whitney Area since 1993..last time I was even close to the area was in 2002 when I did my Miter Basin trip. I discovered Snow Nymph's pictures while doing a google search on some hiking area over a year ago...her Webshots showed up and I have since been enjoying her beautiful pictures and trip reports she shares for the world to all see and enjoy. I wanted to thank her and to tell her how much I have enjoyed looking at her pictures of her adventures out in the wilds she has done..so I sent her an email!. It was great after almost a year of being in contact with emails to her..to finally meet & hike with her :) Shes a wonderful & fun person & great to hike with! I also had the pleasure to meet & hike with Calhiker, & California Trailwalker from the Whitney board..he came out from Ohio. Two very nice people as well! The morning of the hike Snow Nymph introduces me to Sooz Trailtrekker from this board, Sdsierrahiker, Mtflyer & Glacier Jay..they along with Wingding had done the Mountaineers Route the day before..I knew Wingding was going to be here and we were going to try to meet each other one of the days, but unfortunately we did not see each other. The four of us, SN, Calhiker, Ca.Trailwalker & myself did a day hike up the North Fork of lone pine creek up to lower boyscout lake, the weather was perfect, sunny, and a bit on the hot side. This was my 1st time up this canyon...I had heard about the Ebersbacher Ledges and read all sorts of stories about them, good and bad..so really did not know quite what to expect. I personally enjoyed that section & felt they were not at all that bad..I am glad that I had both Snow Nymph & Calhiker to show me the correct way to the start of them..Thank you both! I am in totally in awe of this canyon..it is a very narrow and steep canyon at the bottom..once above the ledges and further on up to lower boyscout lake it starts to really open up more. I have never seen the granite so glistening white in any other part of the Sierra's. We stopped at a beautiful waterfall for a break and snack...a family was going back out after doing the Mountaineers Route..SN had seen them the day before on a section of the MR. The father we both thought looked a little like Bowlderman :) We got to Lower boyscout lake, soaked our feet, Ca. Trailwalker went for a shallow swim & just enjoyed the surroundings. The hike out was great! Got back to the trailhead, where we meant MtnMO..she recognized Snow Nymph and introduced herself. I also meant Bob Rockwell from the Whitney board..he joined us for dinner which we all had the famous Whitney cheeseburgers. Everyone all had to leave for the drive back home & I was there by myself for one more night. Drove back home to Tahoe on Monday which I felt so fortunate to be going back to another beautiful area :) Wished I would have gotten more pictures of this hike..still mad at myself for that. I hope I get this link on okay for the webshots album. Thanks so much again Snow Nymph, Calhiker, Ca. Trailwalker for a beautiful day! Also it was great to meet you Trailtrekker, MtnMo, Sdsierrahiker, Mtflyer, & Glacier Jay http://community.webshots.com/album/443251850tgaCAT/0” 5:55:00 PM 9/07/05 “Great! Thanks for sharing! Glad you got to hike with SN and the others! I saw SN's pics also.” 9:09:50 PM 9/07/05 “You got some really good shots. Don't be mad at yourself over how many pictures you took. It just means you need to go back another time, right? Are you coming on the girls trip?” 9:32:54 PM 9/07/05 “I'm sorry I missed you Anita - it looks like you had a nice trip. I wasn't feeling really great, so I headed home early on Sunday morning. I think my stomach was having trouble digesting all that GU I ate to give me the energy to get up the Mountaineer's Route on Saturday.” 11:47:45 PM 9/07/05 “Hey Anita! It was nice to finally meet you too! I'm glad everything worked out with transportation and camping, and that you were able to meet everyone. I almost always get that front parking spot! Its a good place to run into people. Last year I was in the same parking space and Phil's Son walked by and we both did a double take before saying anything. I could tell you were in awe of the surrounding granite walls. It was a very enjoyable day! Looking forward to the next trip!” 1:43:17 AM 9/08/05
