Its just a minor bug (which all software has) which affects few people, so the cost-to-benefit didn't make it worthwhile to fix. The new owners certainly won't. Pamela - there is a way in IE to set up your own style sheets that will override the formatting done by the site. You can make the text larger this way. Email me if you want more info.” 11:02:02 AM 3/13/08 “what program do i need to open a .tpo file? or is it something one can only use with a gps? last edited: 4/14/08 6:33:10 PM” 6:31:20 PM 4/14/08 “national geographic topo program will open it. not a freebie though. http://www.natgeomaps.com/topo .gpx files are typically used by the GPS itself. last edited: 4/14/08 6:43:18 PM” 6:40:59 PM 4/14/08 “i'll be buying the actual maps when i get back to the states, so it's gotta be a freebie” 6:42:32 PM 4/14/08 6:55:14 PM 4/14/08 “ss you beat me to it. :P conversion is the only other possibility. even gpsbabel requires a "donation". and once I read somewhere about converting a tpo to txt format...but not sure how that would even remotely resemble mapping...it wouldnt” 7:00:07 PM 4/14/08 “not working for me. i are puter unliterable” 7:22:09 PM 4/14/08 thinking about getting this laptop. thoughts? 6:18:15 AM 8/26/09 “or, i could go the other direction and spend the money for a really good one: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9366615&type=product&id=1218092150740” 6:23:07 AM 8/26/09 “Go for the cheap one, unless you do a lot of photoshop work.” 6:51:47 AM 8/26/09 “I'm wary of circuit city, unless you get manufacturer warranty. They're bankrupt and closed all the stores in this area.” 7:28:18 AM 8/26/09 “What Chicago said....http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aoXcWLaVIkTs&refer=home as of January 1” 11:08:10 AM 8/26/09 “Circuit City is bankrupt. I wouldn't buy anything from them. You have not told us what you will be using the laptop for. That is the place to start when looking for a recommendation. The Asus got good reviews from CNET. http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g71gx-rx05/4505-3121_7-33695862.html It is very heavy at 8.8 pounds. A 6 cell battery won't give you diddly for run time, especially on a power hungry machine like the Asus. The drive is slow at 5400 rpm, but that is a standard laptop drive. You can get laptops with 7200 rpm drives which offer increased performance. If you are going to spend that much, I would look at the Lenovo ThinkPad line. I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T60p that I carry with me to client sites every day and it's been absolutely bomb proof.” 2:57:48 PM 8/26/09 “Lenovo X61 tablet here. Keep your eye on the deal sites, like techbargains.com and slickdeals.net for a while, you'll eventually see a deal you can't pass up. That's how I got my Lenovo.” 5:03:27 PM 8/26/09 “I got a Lenovo from Newegg...KILLER quality computer. Very Lightweight.” 8:14:20 AM 8/27/09 “Looking... What Lenovo models? Any experience with Tiger Direct?” 10:08:26 AM 8/27/09 “what program do i use to open a .pub file (it's some kind of text file)?” 1:51:17 PM 9/06/09 “ ”3:50:40 PM 9/06/09 “oh youre very helpful” 6:31:00 PM 9/06/09 6:33:28 PM 9/06/09 6:51:40 PM 9/06/09 “hey, i notice that the posters at the site you provided didnt respond WELL DID YOU GOOGLE IT!??” 6:52:53 PM 9/06/09 “now that that rant is over, i gotta say that i hope it is part of microsoft office, and that the free copy that i can get from iuk is not just a trial version” 6:57:55 PM 9/06/09 “next thing you know, windows wont be free on your computer anymore, itll just be a 60 day trial version then EVERYthing will cost” 7:00:08 PM 9/06/09 “Buy you books....send you to school....” 7:04:29 PM 9/06/09 “oh yea. books thats another thing my algebra textbook was well over $100, and was almost 2 weeks late. i had my first test before i got my damn textbook i think im entitled to a partial refund, or at least a bump up on my final grade will i get one? nooooooooooooo and the freakin algebra proff, thinks her precious online study review website is irreproachable......grrrr i guess this should be on the peeves site, too” 7:46:55 PM 9/06/09 “ ”7:56:27 PM 9/06/09 “heh life is hard. wear a helmet” 8:10:47 PM 9/06/09 “ok. i tried to open it with publisher and it says it is not a valid win32 application” 10:29:10 PM 9/06/09 “Have you seen the new Google Chrome OS Crash? It's a Linux based system but it looks a lot better than Windows. They claim it is "virus free computing".” 3:07:25 AM 9/07/09 “I downloaded the Google Chrome browser and it's pretty nice. It's just their version of Firefox but it's more streamlined and it does seem faster.” 4:29:58 AM 9/07/09 “Crash, there are five versions of Microsoft Office 2007. Three of them include Publisher. Home & Student and Standard do not include Publisher. Small Business, Professional and Ultimate do include Publisher. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/FX101635841033.aspx Unfortunately for you, Microsoft does not offer a free, downloadable viewer for Publisher files. The best way to distribute Publisher files so that anyone may view them is to first convert the to a PDF file. Google...it's a wonderful thing.” 2:40:09 PM 9/07/09 “i have Publisher. but it is not working on the file” 2:51:27 PM 9/07/09 “ ”3:10:53 PM 9/07/09 “no way. it's brand new” 3:56:03 PM 9/07/09 “HTML Files: Convert your Publisher document to an HTML File. You can then either post the files on the Web and send recipients the address to go view the files or send the HTML files to the recipient for them to view offline in their browser. If you send the files, you'll need to include all the graphics as well and make sure you set up the file so that all HTML and graphics reside in the same directory so the recipient can place them anywhere on their hard drive. Or you could take the HTML code that Publisher creates and send an HTML-format email. The exact procedure will depend on your email client and how it is received by the recipient will depend on what email client they use (and if they accept HTML-formated email).” 4:13:04 PM 9/07/09 4:14:31 PM 9/07/09 “Nigal has been busy today.” 4:28:06 PM 9/07/09 “ ”4:29:44 PM 9/07/09 “Did nigal/bubba bear forget to switch trolls?” 5:21:28 PM 9/07/09 “Crash, what message do you get when you attempt to open the *.pub file? Have you tried to look up the message on something like Google, Bing, Yahoo or some other search engine? Chances are that you are not the first person with the problem and that someone has posted something about it on the internet. My first thought would be that you have a corrupt *.pub file. That is immpossible to tell without a screen shot or error message of your problem.” 7:34:06 PM 9/07/09 “Crash- Found a couple of links that might help you. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/198256/en-us http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928890/en-us” 7:41:09 PM 9/07/09 “Crash- Also found this post on a paid site that I subscribe to: The .pub files are not corrupt and can be opened in Pub2003 OK. Apparently MS helpdesk said a fix should be available end of June 2009, until then I've un-installed SP2 using this tool http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/954914 which has solved the problem for now. What version of Publisher are you using and what updates have you applied for Office? i.e.- what Service Pack level are you running?” 7:44:30 PM 9/07/09 “i tried to open it with publisher and it says it is not a valid win32 application”” 7:56:57 PM 9/07/09 “im pretty sure the file is not corrupt because it is a newsletter that gets sent out to several ppl each month i clicked on some of those links, nothing seemed to match my problem. ill take it into helpdesk on campus some time this week sorry for going off on ya on the other thread, but computers annoy me” 8:03:34 PM 9/07/09 “but computers annoy me I can relate, especially when dealing with my pda for work. Some days I dream of running away and becoming Amish.” 2:00:02 AM 9/08/09 “Yeah but even the Amish really aren't Amish.” 5:37:31 AM 9/08/09 “hey crash, download Open Office Suite. it will open just about anything and its free.” 6:57:21 AM 9/08/09 “HPM had to deal with this last year. Alas, he's in meeting hell today. I think he found a third party website that he could use, to open it for free.” 7:26:07 AM 9/08/09 Jump to Page << prev
