OK, I think I can easily do that. It will be cool to chat with landscaper and wannabp again and the rest of the posse. Now about this possible Cascadia event, should be a wild ride right before the end doncha think?. heh heh heh After that, the rest of the know-it-alls can debate our level of stupidity because we lived in a known earthquake zone. last edited: 9/21/05 11:54:16 PM” 11:53:11 PM 9/21/05 “Yay! Fun! :) 2 words for Sarbar... Banana Rum. *grins* Lordy! What a night! Talk about oversharing with everyone! LOL.” 12:41:30 PM 9/23/05 “Bump! Getting closer.” 2:16:24 AM 9/25/05 One week ... “... and counting down.” 3:42:39 AM 9/25/05 “Yeah, thatw as the night..lol!! Banana Rum is evil ;-)” 11:29:57 AM 9/25/05 “When I drink Dicentra's drink, it better not be Banana Rum.” 2:59:00 PM 9/25/05 “Let's just say that night was spent carcamping at the Sunshine Point CG at Mt. Rainier in the late fall 2 years ago..there were 3 of us ladies sitting at a picnic table ... and we drank a whole bottle of that evil stuff-straight up. Now...we were really loud and were talking about improper things ;-) Lets just say all the guys in our hiking group had gone to bed and got to listen to us till 1 or 2 am. Then Dicentra and Fogduo scared the cruddoo out of each other at the privy....now that was hilarious ;-)” 9:19:46 PM 9/25/05 “OMG!! I forgot about that part! I think Foggy just about wet her pants. LOL!!!!” 3:59:23 PM 9/26/05 “It's this weekend! Sarbar isn't allowed to complain about her commute... We're coming from Leavenworth! :p” 11:15:25 AM 9/28/05 See ya soon “Here's the where and when -- Sunday, Oct 2nd, 5:00, at McCormicks and Schmick's http://www.mccormickandschmicks.com/main.cfm?action=location&element=sample&type=happyhour&locID=6 My cell is 707 529 0605. It'll be great to see old TT friends and meet new ones :)” 12:00:58 PM 9/28/05 “I'm really looking forward to it!” 12:02:19 PM 9/28/05 “Heyyyy...I'll be in Seattle, Oct. 9-13. I'M GONNA VISIT THE REI MOTHERSHIP !! I heard REI was within walking distance (about a mile) from the Fairmont hotel...?? MDSHiker” 12:19:15 PM 9/28/05 “Pretty much everything downtown Seattle is a mile walking distance. : ) LOL! It's not a big downtown and the buses are ride free downtown... If you are looking for some nice lunch and a beer after your shopping adventure, I recommend Paddy's on Thomas. It's a couple of blocks from REI. Paddy Coyne's article” 12:27:03 PM 9/28/05 “BTW, you'll need a nice beer after the Flagship store. It really isn't that exciting...” 12:31:09 PM 9/28/05 “Are you kidding me ?? I live in Alabama !! Enough said.” 12:38:32 PM 9/28/05 “MDS, are you joining us for dinner all the way from Alabama? That would be really cool.” 12:56:35 PM 9/28/05 “No no...wannabp...blah...wish I was. I'll be there the next week.” 2:57:05 PM 9/28/05 “*shrugging* I know a lot of the foo foo-er REI stores are no nicer than the flagship. I don't know what you've got where you live. But I hear the Atlanta one is pretty big and therefore it's probably pretty much the same.” 4:49:46 PM 9/28/05 “pixie, The store is Tacoma is smaller than the Seattle one, so the Seattle one has a little more to look at, more of a variety, more choices. The Seattle one has the section w/great photographs hung up and in bins of wildlife and spectacular scenery and a cafe/restaurant too. If someone comes from an area that doesn't have many stores or big stores, all this kind of stuff is very interesting to them. I see people at Mt. Rainier staring into the lake that has some ice on it, and my husband wonder's if they see wildlife, but if you come from an area with no lakes surrounded by mountains and filled with ice, that is a big attraction in and of itself. If I didn't tell my husband to keep driving, he's still be looking for some spectacular thing that they must be so entranced looking at when we are used to it. It's all still pretty, but we've hiked to much better scenery and well...it's just a lake w/ice, but not to out of towners. last edited: 9/28/05 5:57:28 PM” 5:56:10 PM 9/28/05 “I could say something negative about Tacky-oma, but I shall refrain... LOL!” 6:27:42 PM 9/28/05 “Woo Hoo!” 6:28:33 PM 9/28/05 “landscaper and wannabp, you guys have a good trip up on the train and I'll see you on Sunday. Heck, I just might make it a day wandering around in Seattle. It's been a while since I've done that. Maybe see what is new at Pike Place Market, do some people watchin, and enjoy the day. Well, that is if I get up early on Sunday morning. heh heh heh last edited: 9/28/05 7:19:11 PM” 7:18:51 PM 9/28/05 “Too bad, MDS. Next time. I'm almost ready to go. See y'all Sunday.” 9:32:15 PM 9/28/05 “Lipstick...you nailed it right on :-) See, to us it is normal...I mean for instance I look at Rianier every day it is clear..I hike there weekly..and it isn't always the magical place it was before I tried the Wonderland. I meet tourists down in the parking lot-and they are just awed to be there..it always makes me rember why I love being there :-) Oh yeah, and Rainy said I can ride with her and the man :-P” 9:15:35 AM 9/29/05 “But Sar, all the new REI's getting built look just like the flagship store. For instance the new Alderwood/Lynnwood one. So for a lot of people who live near the bigger, major city one's, the flagship won't look much different....” 12:01:19 PM 9/29/05 “Where are they building these new REIs? We could use one in my area. Right now the closest one to me is over 200 miles away.” 12:20:59 PM 9/29/05 “I don't know zac. Maybe their website has a "coming soon" section.” 1:19:22 PM 9/29/05 “We just get pampered out here Pixie ;-)” 1:20:47 PM 9/29/05 “I guess.” 1:39:56 PM 9/29/05 “Wannabp and Landscaper are pulling into Eugene tonight at 7pm (only 7 hours late) on Amtrak. Instead of going up the McKenzie River to enjoy the falls and some fall color for the afternoon it's to my house for the evening for bbq and Kahlua Smoothies... yum... I'll deposit them back on the train tomorrow morning for the next leg of their trip up to all you folks in Seattle. Now... off to the liquor store!” 6:17:55 PM 9/29/05 “Fun!” 6:38:32 PM 9/29/05 “pixie, I learned "the aroma of Tacoma" pretty fast after moving here, lol:) sarbar1, I remember my first visit from NY coming to WA to see if I wanted to move here. I was sooo lucky Mt. Rainier was showing itself. The B&B owner told me so, but I had no idea at the time what he really meant. I remember doing the hike to Panorama Point as my first experience and then coming down the mountain side where all the blueberry bushes were in their fall colors set against the dark green evergreens and it was breathtaking. I said to my husband that I had to come back here and do more hikes! I see the same awe you do in people's faces that are new to WA and/or the mountain. It makes me feel great to be living here and so close to Rainier, but not too close, lol:) I wish everyone here could come to WA and hike Mt. Rainier just once. Well, and then go home, lol:) It's getting crowded here! Even the view from the visitor's center with no hiking involved is spectacular. I still feel awe inspired by driving to the grocery store and seeing Mt. Rainier and I'm 1-1/2 hours away and it seems to be right in front of me, not to mention the pink glow the sunset casts upon the snow capped mountain; it's unbelievable! The mountain is awash in pink!” 8:12:36 PM 9/29/05 “pixie, I'd say it was at least 20 years or more ago that I was watching a soap opera called "Ryan's Hope". They had a new charactor show up who they depicted as white trash and that she came into their town from a place called Tacoma, WA. For some reason, I never forgot that and now I live in WA and I understand to an extent what they meant. Tacoma has some nice areas and beautiful houses, even though there are certain parts that are featured on COPS, lol:)” 8:22:24 PM 9/29/05 “I love the morning swhen I go out and Rainier is huge in front of me..and I knwo I can be there in under 45 minutes..woohoo! I really don't think I can tire of her..she is just gorgeous :-)” 10:22:31 PM 9/29/05 “I'll be there at 5, I'll be the one in the Gore-tex rain suit.” 10:33:15 PM 9/29/05 “Ahem...I MIGHT even wear REAL clothes...and if I am feeling downright downtowny, I might even wear heels :-0 lol.....” 10:53:00 PM 9/29/05 “Someone from south King county wears heels?” 10:57:34 PM 9/29/05 “Hey, you better watch it, or I might break out the Pleather pants again..lmao!! I am SURE Dicentra remebrs those only too well ;-) Hehheh!!” 11:35:23 PM 9/29/05 “And..... I just might even wear a skirt! :-0” 11:35:50 PM 9/29/05 “You looking to pick someone up? Feeling lucky? last edited: 9/29/05 11:45:34 PM” 11:44:15 PM 9/29/05 “I won't be wearing heels or a skirt (pardon me), but I would like to meet ya'll, so I'll try to make it. Supposed to be raining, so I should be around. Is there a head count?” 12:30:18 AM 9/30/05 “I would have given 3 to 1 odds that Sarbar didn't even own a skirt. No way!” 6:26:23 AM 9/30/05 “Wannabp and Landscaper finally arrived last night in Eugene at 8:45pm! 8 hours late! After dinner and Kahlua Smoothies (DQ ice cream, Kahlua, Godiva Liquor.. oh yummm), to bed at 1:30am, back to the train at 5:45am. Hopefully their last leg won't be as late! Great to have you stop by!” 8:20:09 AM 9/30/05 “I'll have you know, Dicentra took me shopping last year and made me buy a skirt of above knee length... And I do have that closet full of hippy skirts :-P And NO, I am not looking to get frisky...lol! I have a man at home, that I er, never shut up about ;-)” 9:45:10 AM 9/30/05 “She DOES own a skirt! I was there... But I've never seen her actually wear it. The pleather pants on the other hand... Remember all the guys staring out the window at us in the parking lot? Scheesh!” 11:36:36 AM 9/30/05 “There is always Tom Tuttle from Tacoma Washington. "Fight Fight Fight for Washington State!" LOL! I miss John Candy. : (” 12:26:40 PM 9/30/05 “sarbar1, they make hiking boots with heels, lol? I don't even know you to say that, but I spend a lot of time walking or hiking which I gather you do too, so I've come to the point where my old days of heel wearing are over and the style of my shoes are outdated. I don't know what I'd do if I had to go to someone's wedding. I guess I'd hit Payless for a cheap pair of throw away heels.” 3:32:28 PM 9/30/05 “Lol..that is what I do every year, buy one pair to wear to fancy deals....otherwise Boots and Chaco's ;-)” 6:32:35 PM 9/30/05 Jump to Page << prev
