wannabp, it's always happening. You don't hear planes crashing that often and Amtrack carries probably similar amounts of people.

I don't think I doubled up on any articles. They should all be for different years and times, but I could go on and on finding them. My mom won't fly and I would never tell her to take Amtrack instead. They seem to be good for flying off the tracks at least once per year.

How's everyone in the Seattle area doing?Sarbar, kleetn, pixie, et al? I finally got power restored today after going 36 hours without electricity. Thank goodness for having some fuel still left over from last season to cook on my MSR WhisperLite stove. Just as I was running low I went out to REI and other stores looking for more, but to no avail. Fuel was sold out everywhere. So I returned home empty handed, but to whoops and cheers... we had electricity and a warm home when we got back. Got down to 41 degrees last night in the house. The neighbor had a tree fall in the front yard and missed hitting the bedroom. The wind blew about 10 pickets out of my fence and some branches fell. I hope eveyone else in the Puget Sound can check in soon with their stories.

Anyone heard from other Seattle area TT'ers in the last couple days since our big storm?

We had a lot of trees down in Spokane, nothing like Seattle, though. Hope everybody is ok.

I look at the calendar and see winter starts this coming Friday. LOL! It's already been a long freaking winter. I'm still wondering what happened to the mild El Nino winter we were supposed to have.

*bump*

Still waiting for roll call of who has electricity and life returned to normal.

I heard that at Chinook Pass near Mount Rainier the wind was clocked at 113 mph, and almost as high at Sunrise. With the flood damage a few weeks ago and now the wind damage, the park must be a complete disaster zone.

It's been more than four days now without power for me, and it's getting really old. A call to PSE's hotline said it could be mid-week before power is restored in my area. Even going to work has not been a solution, since Seattle City Light hasn't been able to get a new transformer up and running to replace the damaged one that powers our building.

No big damage at my house other than a section of my fence got mashed by a tree limb, and all the food in the refrigerator and freezers will have to be tossed. Running a little low on firewood, but there's plenty more downed in the greenbelt behind my place.

Thanks for the link Hodgeman. I was wondering how much of the storm hit your area. The death toll keeps rising here (12), four more today found dead from carbon monoxide poisoning in their home from a generator running in the garage.

I know how you feel, kleetn. I hope you get power real soon. You will be joyous when the power comes back on.

The treehuggers in the NW are so happy to have their power back.

One piece of advice: to not hug a tree during gale force winds after weeks of drenching rain.

Glad you guys made it ok. That storm looked almost like a hurricane coming in. Mean swirling thing.

Kleetn and others make sure you take lots of pictures of any damage for insurance. Even the contents of the fridge and freezer. They will pay a certain amount for what was in it. Photographic proof is best.

Good luck guys. We on the gulf coast know how you feel.

Got electricity yet, kleetn? Do you live near Woodinville?

Going to Seattle!
Thinkbubelz & I are heading to Seattle & surrounding areas in a few weeks!

Would love to get some recommendations on good places to hike. :-) This is our 1st time out there... :-) I have been wanting to go there for a long time--

Plus, any recommendations on Must Sees in the city would be cool as well! ;-)
