Coming to Seattle
Jerry and I will be in Seattle Sunday evening, October 2nd. It would be great to meet some of the Northwest TTers. Anyone up for dinner that night?

Hey, I live in seattle!! I'm always up for meeting fellow TTers - and eating - LOL. I'll try to keep that night free.

Cool, I see a party taking shape. Yep, eating and meeting fellow TTers is a good thing.

We're catching the train in Seattle Monday morning, planning to spend Sunday night at the infamous Green Tortoise.

USA, we are doing the public transportation thing. It might be a bit of a challenge to do a pot luck........

Sarbar, we'll be coming from Whidbey Island, either taking the bus or catching a ride with friends. We'll be coming from a reunion, so we won't be free until around dinner time. So no hiking this time :(

Ewker, of course we want to see Pixie again. And Aussie, too.

Taking the bus from the island is a breeze....and then catching the ferry, then the bus on the other side. I used to do it all the time (I lived on Whidbey for about 12 or 13 years)
Too bad about no car :-( Man, I am well known for putting on Alpine Splendor picnics :-D

I live somewhat close to Seattle, but find it hard to make committments. My husband is off that Monday, so we may be camping or off somewhere doing a car trip that Sunday to Monday, but I will keep your visit in mind if things change.

Awww ... too bad it's a Sunday night. If it was a Friday or Saturday or even a Thursday I'd be there for sure !

Well, dang, Hodge, you'll just have to come down to Eugene the Thursday before when we'll be tearing up the town with Ladyhiker.

I'm in Seattle too! I'd love to meet some TTers!

Sarbar, Pixie... should we call out the posse?

Hooray! Wanna and Jerry!

I'm totally there.
Let's eat somewhere downtown, since they'll be staying there. Any restaurant ideas?
I'll email RatPacker too. Yup, the posse should come!

pixie, I'd just love to know what good places are to eat around Seattle. I haven't experimented much. I like Italian, but those places like Assiago and Tulio are expensive.

Hey, what about you all going to Buco di Beppo? They now serve portions for 2-3 people and still serve large portions for 6-8 people. It's reasonable and the sharing aspect is great.

The PNWH Posse has been called out! Just name the time and place! :)

Buca has great food. I agree. : ) An option, but not exactly walking from the Green Tortoise.

The restaurant portion is all ages.

I'm not sure how "cheap" they are, but they have good food. I'll see if they have a menu online...

That was easy! Here's the link:

Sounds like Sarbar just volunteered! hah!

Seriously though... it is totally in walking distance from the tortoise. I'm sure *someone* would pick them up. ;) We'd prolly have to park near there anyway.

Hah!
Well, if I can get someone to join me (ie..Rainy) I'll come..otherwise, the gas cost from out here in BFE will kill my pocket :-(
(Yeah, it'll be GREAT to live in a bedroom community!)
Lol!
I know tommorow Rainy and me are dayhiking and going to the Rainier Mt. Festival in Ashford...to look at the gear deals, not the climbers ;-)

I'd rather look at the climbers! ;)

Rainy prolly won't come... Her man will be newly back in town and I'm sure she'll be otherwise occupied. Who can blame her! ;) LOL

Pixie, I had no idea what the Green Tortoise is or was. I looked it up. I think someone recommended the Pink Door to me once that I believe is on the Post Alley Road. She was taken out to lunch by her boss, an attorney, so I don't know if it's expensive or not.

For living in WA so long, I am so not familiar with many things directly in Seattle, but more inclined to know more about the outlying areas than any native at my husband's job I guess from our long distance travels for hiking and camping.

Does the Green Tortoise have a Pink Door?

LOL! No.
The Pink Door is excellent, but is probably more expensive than Pike Pub.

Don't think our choices of lodging and transportation mean we are broke. The train is just a lot more relaxing than hanging out in a line at the airport, and hostels are more fun than motels. And public transportation is, well, it just is...... We could rent a car, but by taking the bus, we are more in the community rather than moving through it in a bubble.

So, what's expensive in Seattle? It would be nice if everyone who wants to come can come without a budget upheaval.

I stayed at the Green Tortoise in San Fransciso. It wasn't bad. We had a private room though. Still cheaper than a motel!

My vote is still for the pub (even if I can't drink!)

Definitely, we have a private room. I love chatting with people from all over the world, but when it's bedtime, I want peace and quiet.

The pub sounds good to me. I liked the menu. Why can't you drink?

aka nihilist
Sounds like a lot of fun to me. I met wannabp and landscaper at last Winterfest. They are lots of fun so this should be fun also. Anyway, I'm in for this.

Pike Pub is OK and near the ferry. The Owl and Thistle is fun and very close to the ferry, but I don't know if a big bunch would be able to meet there. Belltown Billiards is wide open but their kitchen is small and a large group might have to wait a long time for grub. Heck, we might have to wait a long time at Pikes Pub also. 13 Coins is more pricey but the food is nicer also and is further away at Denny and Fairview area.

PS: I had to register a new name because I forgot my passwords to my old names. This is the third name I'm working on here. aka nihilist and RumiDude

Congratulations, Dicentra! And kudos to you for not drinking.

It'll be good to see you again ...... what name do you want to go by? E-mail Matt and he'll get you back to the name you want, or at least he's done that for Landscaper before.

Anyone play billiards?

Drunken Memories
Sounds like a personal problem to me, sarbar. ~grins~ I like the Guinness on tap there. They really know how to draw a pint. And to top it off, they have a good selection of Irish whiskey, and not to bad a selection of tequila. ~bigfreakinsmile~

wannabp - I guess this name is as good as any, though I was known as nihilist during our planning for Winterfest. I'm RumiDude over on the other board and have a logon under that name here also. I thought I put all my passwords in a safe place, but I can't find them.

tarabull - Yea, I like KV also. I thought about using Ice-Nine but will save that for another time. Probably when I lose this password and just start another screen name. ~smile~

Yay! Rumi's coming! :)

Isn't the Owl and Thistle in Greenwood? Or is that the Pig and ??? They have awesome nachos don't they?

Belltown Billards would be too smokey for me right now. That is just about the only thing I can't tolerate. Fun place though. If you can drink. :p Cute girls get really good service. ;) Dunno bout their food. I only used to go there to drink.

13 Coins DOES have good food, but I think that is a little out of our price range.

What does everyone think? If we are just doing drinks and appetizers I'm up for anywhere. If we are doing dinner, my vote is still for the pub.
