Michigan UP NCT hike update

“We will now be starting the hike from Muskallonge lake State Park, instead of Deer Park.

I was just informed by MHH that there's nothing at Deer park or no safe place to leave a car anyway?”

“Sounds Good - Do I need to pick up a state Park sticker for where we are leaving my car?”

“Yes, you'll need one.

I'm not sure what they charge for a daily pass either. approx.$3-4 dollars a day, would be my guess?

Better to pay the daily, as an annual would expire Dec.31st anyway and cost you $24.00 bucks!”

“Daily passes at state parks for out of state cars are $8/day and the annual pass sticker is $32 or $28, I forget which right now. The annual pass does expire Dec. 31.”

“Such a bummer. I love Muskallonge Lake State Park--my family car-camped there about 10 years ago-- I remember the water being cold and clear to the bottom. I hope it's still that way. IT was about 1/4 mile to Lake Superior and just beautiful in that area....

Too bad we can't come on this trip!”

“a last minute change of plans moved our planned trip to this area...we may be heading from culhane lake to muskallonge..or visa versa 21st- 24th....if you see a 48 yr old...6'2" with a kelty pack and his wife....it could be me. weather sounds good. have a nice trip”

“Friday we will hopefully be 5-7 miles east of Muskallonge lake and camp on Lake Superior.

Saturday we will probably be 2-4 miles south of Culhane Lake and camp somewhere off trail.

We will be a party of four, three men and a lady.

I hope we bump into you and have a good trip as well.”
