“Hey, Em. We (that would be McKenzie's parents and me) are back from the hospital for an hour or two as Kenzie rests. The surgery went as great as brain surgery can go. They were done ahead of expectations, she's responding well and knows everybody but is understandably tired. We're going back in a bit until ICU visiting hours are over and then going back for the weekend.

“McKenzie's home! :) She's out like a light, and it'll be a while before she's close to 100%, but who cares - she's home safe!”

“Woohoo! I know you are relieved. Did you spend the whole weekend in the hospital? When will she be totally recovered?

Congrats!”

“Her mom stayed there all the time, while her dad and I spent the nights at home since there was no way we all could sleep there. Other than that, I was at the hospital almost all the time from Friday at 6AM till now.

We were told she should be around 90% in two-ish months. That sounded like a lot, till the doc said that in the 50s and 60s, this procedure required a 2 month stay in the hospital compared to the 4 days she just had. :)”

“wow, yeah, that does seem like a long time. Did her company let her take a leave?”
