Trail Food
I have found THE GREATEST trail food book!! It has everything: weights, recipes, exact shopping lists, calorie counts. I have spent so much time trying to figure all of this out for myself, but this little book does it for you. You don't even need a lot of cookware. All the info is at the author's site: Travellighteatheavy.com You might want to check it out.

Nothing wrong with saying you have an item for sale, but at least be open about it? Not pretending!!

Who counts calories on a backpacking trip?

Oops, my bad. There are backpackers back east in flatland who don't break a sweat.

I do
"Like how many calories can I claim I am burning so I can eat this triple pack of Otis Spunkmeyer muffins that I crammed in my pack?" lol.....
Screw lightweight food-I live to pull that 2 lb block of homemade fudge out of Rainrunners pack and chow down..burp :-D

hahahaha...I wanted to post the same as sarbar...BUT thought I already did deliver my nag for the day...I let someone else do this one. LMAO

He needs to tell his "FRIEND" to post a sample receipe and not a garbled mess of foods. Not even a price on first look. you got to search and waste time.

but anyway...good luck. Next time just be honest about it. you can't expect me to trust you with my business if you trying to sell like that.

Well, I will admit after seeing the first posts yesterday I DID go and look and found the tabkle of contents...and while I am sure the book has it's fine points it seems, er, uh, skinny!
What I don't get is there is no freebies on the website. Let's put it this way-I buy a LOT of cookbooks, indoors and outdoors. I read more thru the libary...and if I cannot preview it, I am not plunking down cash!

Faffa's post reads like a script for an infomercial.

Hey folks what is wrong with having a signature line? Other forums do. And to my knowledge it is not considered phoney or flagrant advertising.
Did I miss a beat in this forum?

A "signature line"? Don't you think that alone is phony? It's not a signature, it's a link to another website. Is there anything about that link or anything on it that benefits this site? Or does it benefit you? Why not just put the link in with your profile?

Thanks for the dialogue. I think the info does fit in this site or I wouldnt put it in there, but I sure did not want to raise the ire of long time folks who know the unspoken codes of ethice. Maybe I should just put it in my profile? I honestly did not think of that. hm

Haha! I'm by no means a long time TTer, I just didn't think it was right. I mean no offense either BTW, I just think that any advertising here should benefit this site. That was only my two cents---no worries.

no worries here either.

thanks for your 2 cents. I spotted a few other folks who were not as gentle as you with their remarks on the subject.

I quess it is more like this-for instance under food finds I often will list links to products on my boss's website, because as his employee I get to eat all the new stuff fer free ;-) And if I likey I'll tell everyone how good it is..but I do it with a disclaimer, where I state that yes, I do work for this company (most of the products we sell a person can find in big Asian stores)
Nothing wrong with listing a website or links-if a person is honest about it.
What torks people is advertising something and pretending you are a "satisfied customer" ;-)

I love it that we can see the date a person first joined TT, it makes spotting product hype even easier.

BTW: I do count calories on backpacking trips, to make sure I get enough without taking too much weight.

I plan to make my energy input nearly equal to energy output so I don't carry too much+ a little for safety. Cut it a little short in the Pecos last year, had some weird combos at the end but had the calories I needed.

Counting calories?
Hardly, I figure I can always stand to miss a meal (or several). I've probably got a week's worth around my middle.8v)
