He hasn’t been able to find one so I bought the east coast camera (sense I haven’t had to start one). I will send it and the list to you with the camera. I’m changing the list around a bit so I am the next to last person to get it so I can send it to Naked overseas so he can still be involved in the project.

As far as I can tell the Midwest camera is the only one that has started on schedule and is now moving around. Have any of the starters gotten their cameras going?”

“Hobbit, I will scan and post the shots on www.geocaching.com on that specific cache's page. I think some people logged what number they took. I'll see how well it jives, or otherwise I'll probably e-mail them all (you can send a blind e-mail to a cacher through the website)... and have them ID the photos by their geocaching names.

For this project I sure wish people would just mellow out and not go buy their own cameras and try to get things started when someone else has made overall project plans. It's exciting, but just W-A-I-T for instructions, please.”

“In a world geared toward "instant gratification", waiting for something can be a frustrating thing. I remember as a boy sending off a couple of bucks via snail mail, along with some order form I snipped out of a comic strip, or off of a cereal box, then waiting anxiously for a package to show up several weeks later. The anticipation was probably of more value to me than the actual trinket I was waiting for. I'm afraid people have lost that, or perhaps never had the opportunity to experience it. In a world with express delivery and broadband, it's interesting to see what happens when someone actually has to wait for something of value. I suspect that is why so many people live with huge credit card balances.”

“birch and or Sass had the camera this past weekend at Mammoth Cave. I think they said the they send it to Tarabull next.”

“Tarabull wants it for Turkey weekend then it'll go on to Wolfy or Pink or someone. So far, three shots on the midwest camera.

I put an index card in the camera box and listed the shot numbers. Write your name next to your number so Nigal doesn't have to try and piece together who took what picture, please.”

“I have dropped the ball on the east coast camera as I have the camera but have not sent it to the Trees yet. I bought the envelope today and should have it sent to them Monday.

Beyond my not sending the east coast camera and the midwest camera moving I have no idea where anything is at as that is up to those who said they'd start them off.”

lizs, lizs, lizs. Don’t you read? LOL! I explained this about 100 times in this thread. I put the lists together by region, people volunteered to get a camera and start the ball rolling. I e mailed the appropriate lists to the camera starters which they were to print off and send with the camera. The next person takes their shot and sends the camera and the list to the next person. Easy pleasy lemon squeezy.

The whole thing is a matter of personal responsibility. I put it together and explained everything. I feel I did a pretty good job of it as well as making concessions for special requests. I don’t know what else can be done besides e mail and badger people which I’m not going to do. We are all adults. The success of the whole thing hinges on the individual following through.

Will this work? Doesn’t look like it. But that’s on the ones who aren’t following through.”

And thanks for organizing, Nigal. I'm just anal on project details so, as you can imagine, I was happier organzing it and then sitting back and watching everyone else wonder where TF the camera is. LOL!

Actually, right now I am sitting on two cameras myself for geocaching. One I need to move on. And one I need to get developed; all the photos have been taken in a camera I left in my own geocache. This is a good reminder!!! :-)”

“Seems the same thing is happening on this one that happened to the last one.

"Everyone" signs up saying they want to be part of it and then when the camera comes to them, they don't act on it or hang onto it for weeks on end and then for whatever reason don't mail it to the next person for more weeks......

Please, please, please. If you sign up for this, please own up to the responsibility of getting out there, taking your picture and forwarding it to the next person on the list. If everyone gets it for the weekend, mails it Monday, and the next person gets it for the next weekend...... This can and will happen. It actually means something to at least some of the people involved here. It is not a novelty to them. It is more important to them than just to say I signed up or was part of it.

If you wanted to be part of it, yet do not have the resonsibility to act on it, then post here, offer best wishes etc... but keep your name off the list. That way you can still say you were part of it.

It's ski season now for the next three months. If you want to know what trail my picture will be of, it's all gonna be white and downhill, and all the folks will be wearing designer ski wear. Actually, the way this is going, It'll be next spring before the camera gets my way, so maybe I'll actually have a hiking pic for it.
