A real solution would win a Nobel Prize, I'm sure!
Man, I was out bushwhacking this weekend. I spent 40 minutes on Saturday (where I climbed a steep slope up a bluff to see if two forest units connect -- they do!).... and 10 minutes Sunday (for a little offtrail trek of 10 feet) PICKING STICKY THINGS OFF MY CLOTHES!!

Earlier this summer I spent a half an hour after doing a geocache.

Yes, I wore gaiters. They worked pretty well, but didn't keep sticky things off my pockets and butt and shirt!

So... to keep to keep them off, I should wear a total outdoor clothing suit made of gaiter material? Baah!

What's a good solution? Don't tell me to stay on the trail. :-)

Admit it, this has happened to you, TOO!!

No, a knight's armor also will not work....

Ungh. I hate it when they get into the coat of a long-haired dog. What a mess. Sometimes there is nothing to do but cut them out.

First off, let's get one thing clear.... Lizs is no dog. Secondly, I'd describe her hair as medium length rather than long.

I don't believe there is anything one can do, short of taking all your clothes off and wearing something disposable instead.
Hefty bag dress being modeled by Lizs, perfect for avoiding those nasty and annoying burdock seeds.

Spray yourself with Pam---just not on a real hot day.

Watch where you walk. Could be poison ivy or a snake too.

Beat them out of the way with hiking poles before you proceed...our yard is surrounded by them to keep the goulies out...

Lizs, you can remove most of the sticky things with duct tape. Just roll a piece around your hand sticky side out, and roll it over your clothes.

We don't have those burrs here. The worst 2 we have are sand spurs (ow!) and Begger's purses, which attach themselves by the thousands this time of year. I remember having to pull burrs off our airedale about every day this time of year back in Michigan.

You could combine Wild Walker's and Nonconformist's ideas...

LMAO... hey, I just saw this geocaching log from (drum roll) Yellow River State Forest, where I was! LOL!

Log Date: 9/19/2005 -- Well, this was quite the adventure. I was in these woods with my college age backpacking class. After they headed for home, I headed for this cache. My GPS doesn't like trees, so had me on the wrong side of the trail.

I managed to get in to some of those nasty stickers (puckerbush?). I got them all over me, front and back, and in my hair. It took me about an hour with my shirt off, in the bushes, trying to get the stuff off of me. After that I went back to the trail and found the prairie.

Re-acquired a signal, and there was the cache, just across the trail. Easy find after that. TNLN

LMFAO!!! THERE! I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE!! And I actually scroogied around in my shirt so it was on backwards, to pick the sticky stuff off the back.

Then, I was along this backroad to some new houses, and these people driving by stop. (It was dark.) "Are you OK?" they asked.

I said, "Yeah, just picking sticky weed crap off my clothes."

They said, "OK, we have seen a rattlesnake in this area, so wondered..."

Maybe a white Tyvek suit. They are disposable and reusable and keep a lot of stuff off of me when I am under a house or somewhere like that. Also, the suit is designed to fit right over whatever I am wearing.

Okay Lizs, I've read through all these suggestions, and I have the solution, based on a combination of ideas. First of all, take off all your clothes.... second, cover your whole body with cooking oil..... oops, sorry.... wrong thread.

hey hobbit - not just any cooking oil will do - it has to be EVOO

Maybe a tin foil suit and Marvin Gardens by my side for extra protection???

Sorry to get off (heheh, Beavis, she said "get off") of the nekkid cooking oil diretion of thread and enter some really useful information!

LOL
