It's just a belly landing. There are two kinds of pilots, those who have, and those who will.

Frontier or Western did a gear up landing in a 737 or something similar in Casper WY years ago. Everyone walked away. '

But yes, a prayer is in order.

No crash ~ looked like a smooth landing. I'm surprised you couldn't hear the sigh of relief or the sound of applause coming from the cabin.

They said there are tv's on the plane that the passengers could have been watching the television coverage of the pending disaster happening to them.

The crew and makers of the aircraft deserve a round of applause.

You can't put plane down much sweeter then that.

So cool! Gave me a rush watching it on TV.

So happy for those people and their families.

USA ~ they also said that when they were circling, the monitors were all shut off.

mtnsteve ~ I agree. I've had rougher landings in aircraft that was perfectly fine.

It should make buyers think twice before buying French-made Airbus planes.

Buy Boeing !

Doh! Boeing machinists are on strike.

conspiracy
The malfunction was an obvious Cheney/KBR/Dub/DOD conspiracy to cast doubt on the airbus in retaliation for Mainland Europes non support of the Iraq war. The front landing gear rather looked like a burning hanging chad.

The TV "expert" they had on the station I was watching practically yawned as he explained that a landing with a malfunctioning landing gear is no big deal for pilots.

Easy...
Higher fuel prices required the airlines to short maintenance costs to remain solvent, resulting in the landing Gear Malfunction...way to go George!

I was thinking the same thing, HPM. The last time I heard of those guys they were crashing into a Florida swamp.

lilmountaingirl,

this story says the passengers were indeed watching it unfold on tv's in the plane.

USA ~ yeah, I heard that this morning on the news. CNN was the one that reported last night that they had turned the monitors off ~ guess that hadn't.

That's a shame. I wouldn't want to watch that crap while I'm in the air.

Jetblue...aren't they part of northwest? I flu them into CA in july. Pretty dang good service. they treat everyone the same, no first class, but excellent service. Well, better then northwest.

I was happy.

yeah, they did say that the tension did increase after the monitors was turned on. but did you see the video from inside the plane? They all was pretty calm. surprised me. I suspected a bunch a freaked out people.

Kudos to the pilots. What a wonderful job they did. EngineerGirl my friend from Boeing was telling me about this from her technical point of view. Fascinating. The pilots were fab.

I fly JetBlue to NY all the time. They are supposed to have all new planes and I've never had a complaint with their service or personnel. They just don't offer food. They have chips and other lackluster snacks.

I heard two stories, one the tvs were on and one said they were not.
