I a looking to buy a daypack. I have a Granite Gear VT that I love that I have used for this purpose, but in the name of buying something new that I really don't need I want to get a daypack. Anybody have suggestions? I am thinking of going to REI (Return Every Item) for a gander this afternoon. Nuttin better to do...

although not the lightest thing I've come to love my Camelback Alps pack mainly because it has, permanently attached and hidden in a zippered pocket, a rain cover...

I too have a Camelbak, the Trailblazer, and I really like it.

Campmoor has all the Camelbaks pretty cheap right now---a lot less than I paid for mine.

My husband bought a daypack with the hydration system in it called Camelback Crosslite 25. I think it was in their discontinued bin. A nice feature is that it keeps it off your back in some areas for venting so you don't sweat as much.

If you go to REI and don't see anything in stock, use their store computer to search the online store that has discontinued items. I really like to see things in person, but they have great deals there. Also check that discontinued bin!

REI's discontinued bin is where I got my Camelbak Alps..it's quite different than the now available Transalps and I like mine much better...If I remember, I got it for almost $50 less than REI's original asking price...I've had it for so many years, I've forgot the details...love that discontinued bin...

I love my Kelty Arrowhead 2500. It's pretty big for a daypack, and weighs @ 4 lbs, but has everything. 3L hyd. sleeve and Source bladder, integrated rain cover, beefy adjustable suspension, lined sunglasses pocket, water bottle pockets, big shove pocket. All the bells and whistles(including the cool-ass integrated whistle in to sternum strap buckle). I've carried a case of beer in it on a fishing trip and it handled that weight fine.

I decided on the GoLite Vision pack. I don't think it's technically a daypack, but it's much smaller than my GG Vapor Trail and I think it will do the job well. It's 1850 cu. in with a 3 liter hydration pouch. Total weight is 1lb 14 oz.

Northern Mountain Supply has it for $95 with free shipping. Sweet.

I haven't tried this out and don't endorse it. I'll let you know once I get it.

TNF Terra 35. They have updated since I've got mine but it makes a great day pack.
