Today in Washington, DC

The American Association for the Advancement of Science holds the first in a series of climate change discussions, with William Hooke of the American Meteorological Society. 6 p.m., AAAS Auditorium, 12th and H Sts. N.W.

Heatwave: Man-made global warming.

Tidal wave: Man-made global warming.

Snow: Man-made global warming.

No snow: Man-made global warming.

Sno-globe: Man-made global warming.

Grassy knoll: Man-made global warming.

Hurricane: Man-made global warming.

Himicane: Man-made global warming.

Too hot: Man-made global warming.

Too cold: Man-made global warming.

This man-made global warming is the most convenient thing to come along since sliced bread. It can be the cause of everything! Reminds me of a line from some movie....I'll have to find it.

Found it. From the Terminator:

This is great stuff. I could make a career out of this guy. You see how clever this part is...how it doesn't require a shred of proof. Most paranoid delusions are intricate...but this is brilliant.

Remember, the closer to the equator, the less it will warm up - maybe 1 or 2 degrees at the equator, but up to 12 degrees at the poles. The point is that HEAT isn't the only thing that GW causes.

Now GWB, he causes lots of heat... hot air (grin).

???

It heats up different amounts in different locations, point being it doesn't just cause heat?

The average worldwide temperature rises, but with the chaotic elements (for lack of a better term) injected into the system, it's postulated that some locations will actually cool while others warm more than the average one or two dergrees, as some areas will suffer drought while others receive flooding rains, etc.

One cannot expect a linear rise in temperature in all areas.

Pehaps it would get the point across better to say "If you perform an uncontrolled experiment on the atmosphere by dumping huge amounts of anything into it, kooky things are bound to happen".

Weather Channel Founder: Global Warming ‘Greatest Scam in History’

There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril. I am incensed by the incredible media glamour, the politically correct silliness and rude dismissal of counter arguments by the high priest of Global Warming.

In time, a decade or two, the outrageous scam will be obvious.

I am not going to argue whether there is global warming or not. My argument is that a few years data doesn't tell us squat for whats happening on a planet. But if like the blind squirrel these guys happen to be right (they have a 33% chance of being correct - the earth is warming, cooling, or maintaining status quo) I don't believe that we humans are gonna stop whatever is happening from happening. In the past, the oceans have been a hundred meters lower than it is now and 400 meters higher. Buy high ground

Can somebody explain how there can be a 300 year lag in the direct correlation of heat changes to carbon monoxide changes, and you still believe there is man-made global warming because of our emmissions? Al Gore lied when he overlayed the graphs to match in his movie and everybody knows it. The main premise of his theory is a known lie.

There's no mention of him at Weather.com.  One of our local newbie weathermen (BA degree in communications, not physics) did a blurb about this on their website.... He called the Weather Channel and they wouldn't even confirm if the guy had ever worked there.

Tilt - if you'll notice, I'm not trying to stir up an arguement. I simply asked if it was suprising on the difference. The difference is suprising to me. Instead of answering the question you're flinging crap. I don't normally play the game that way.

Tilt - get off my ass. I asked a general question and you reply with the maturity of a 6th grader. Where am I pissing my pants? No I even normally participate on these threads? Save your drama for the people you normally argue with. I went to snopes looking for that weather.com thing and someone came across the link I supplied. I thought it interesting, posted it, and got ambushed. Finally, find one post that I've posted in the last 3 years praising Bush. I voted for him both times as the lesser of 2 bad choices.

Nice passive-aggression, there.

No --- misguided people now attack Gore however they can because they can't pretend that climate change isn't happening anymore.

It's simply an attempt at misdirection.

Tilt - honestly, none of that was my intent. I found the link interesting and posted it. There was nothing passive about my aggression. You're being a prick and I called you on it. Also, I've never said climate change isn't happening. It is happening. Folks like to say it's all or nothing. I suspect we're party to blame and it's possible that we're speeding up a natural trend.
