How braindead do you have to be to believe what coal companies say about climate change, much less repeat it in public?   I mean, we know where these stories come from.   We even know how much the Western Fuels Assoc, ExxonMobil, etc. PAID people to spread them around.

Do you still believe what Armstrong Williams wrote about "No Child Left Behind"?

good grief.

fact: global warming is, by definition, an increased average global temperature

fact: the alarmists have repeatedly claimed that as more CO2 is pumped into the atmosphere, by man, the global temperature will rise

fact: we have pumped more CO2 in the air in the last decade than any other time in history

fact: in the last decade the average global temperature has decreased

fact: tiltTiltBLAM disputes that and claims that any source I read that from is financed by oil companies

fact: I invited him, and you salebored, to post figures of the average global temperature change from 1998 to 2008

fact: you both have declined

fact: you are both wrong

fact: man-made global warming is b.s.

Republican Boycott Blocks Senate Panel Vote on EPA Subpoena
By Avery Palmer, CQ Staff

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee canceled a vote Thursday to subpoena the EPA administrator after Republicans boycotted the meeting.

Under committee rules, two Republicans must be present in order to achieve a quorum. Chairwoman Barbara Boxer , a Democrat who represents California, is seeking a draft document the EPA prepared late last year that found that greenhouse gas emissions endanger public welfare.

The EPA draft was part of a response to a 2007 Supreme Court decision that found greenhouse gases were pollutants under the Clean Air Act. If the EPA decides emissions endanger the public, the next step would be regulations to limit those emissions.

The EPA forwarded the document to the White House in an e-mail message in December. The White House then refused to open the document and asked EPA officials to retract it.

--- (oh yes, there’s more) ---

Somebody should tell Duhbya to click where it says “Send/Receive” and then double-click on that email.   And Golly Gee Whiz....   more criminally negligent behavior from Inhofe and the rest of those clowns.   What a sad joke.   Are they trying to give Obama a filibuster-proof majority to work with?

Remember the line from Absence of Malice… when the Quaker Oats guy says, “What did you think you’d do after government service?”

Inhofe et al. will still be working for the energy companies….   Only WE won’t be paying their salaries, THANK GOD.

Believe what you wish. The whole CO2 warming craze (or cooling) is but a diversion from the direct heat and polution created by burning ancient stored energy. Moving the experience of a closed garage with a running car to a scale and complication beyond human comprehension is the same old religious tactics used for centuries.

And whst I wish to believe is that when somebody tells me that our very recent acts of burning ancient stored energy at alarming rates is causing global warming, that the temperature would actually be rising.

Exactly, it's sort of like in Ringworld - the Puppeteer worlds fleeing the galactic core explosion, being able to survive without a sun because of all the waste heat from industry on the planets.

Hold the phone!!! Maybe we can move the Earth closer and further away from the sun to compensate for how much we've warmed or cooled the climate. Good stuff. I'm calling the EPA.

OCEAN SURFACE TOPOGRAPHY MISSION/JASON 2 BEGINS MAPPING OCEANS

WASHINGTON -- Less than a month after launch, the NASA-French space
agency Ocean Surface Topography Mission (OSTM)/Jason 2 oceanography
satellite has produced its first complete maps of global ocean
surface topography, surface wave height and wind speed.

The new data will help scientists monitor changes in global sea level
and the distribution of heat in the ocean. This information is used
to monitor climate change and ocean circulation, and to enable more
accurate weather, ocean and climate forecasts. The data reveal
patterns of sea level anomalies, which are used by scientists to
calculate the speed and direction of ocean surface currents.

The new mission extends a 16-year continuous record of global sea
level measurements begun in 1992 by the NASA/Centre National d'Etudes
Spatiales (CNES) TOPEX/Poseidon mission and continued by the two
agencies on Jason 1, launched in 2001. Data from TOPEX/Poseidon and
Jason 1 shows that mean sea level has been rising by about .12 inches
a year since 1993.

The new maps were generated from the first 10 days of data collected
once the new satellite reached its operational orbit of 830 miles on
July 4. OSTM/Jason 2 and its predecessor, Jason 1, now are flying in
formation in the same orbit approximately 55 seconds apart, making
nearly simultaneous measurements that are allowing scientists to
precisely calibrate the new satellite's instruments. Comparisons of
data from the two satellites on sea-level anomalies, significant wave
height and ocean wind speed all show very close correlation of all
measured parameters.

"These initial observations from OSTM/Jason 2 compare very closely to
those of Jason 1," said Lee-Lueng Fu, OSTM/Jason 2 project scientist
at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif. "To be able to
collect such high-quality science data within a month of launch
breaks previous records. It is also a direct reflection of how mature
the field of satellite altimetry has become and of the seamless
cooperation of our international team."

The satellite's first radar altimeter data were acquired just 48 hours
after its launch on June 20 from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.,
on a Delta II rocket. CNES processed the first test results, followed
by more advanced data results a week after launch. The more advanced
results were produced after calculating the precise location of the
satellite's preliminary orbits. The satellite, its instruments and
ground segment all are functioning properly. After it has been fully
calibrated and validated, the satellite will begin providing
oceanographic products to users around the world.

OSTM/Jason 2 is an international endeavor, with responsibilities for
satellite development and launch shared between NASA and CNES. CNES
provided the OSTM/Jason 2 spacecraft, NASA provided the launch, and
NASA and CNES jointly provided the primary payload instruments. CNES
and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are
responsible for satellite operations, while JPL is managing the
mission for NASA. Data processing is being carried out by CNES, the
European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological
Satellites (EUMETSAT) and NOAA, depending on the type of product.

After on-orbit commissioning of OSTM/Jason 2 is completed, CNES will
hand over mission operations and control to NOAA, which then will
join with EUMETSAT to generate, archive and distribute data products
to users worldwide.

Special interests have blocked transition to our renewable energy future. Instead of moving heavily into renewable energies, fossil companies choose to spread doubt about global warming, as tobacco companies discredited the smoking-cancer link. Methods are sophisticated, including funding to help shape school textbook discussions of global warming.

CEOs of fossil energy companies know what they are doing and are aware of long-term consequences of continued business as usual. In my opinion, these CEOs should be tried for high crimes against humanity and nature.

Conviction of ExxonMobil and Peabody Coal CEOs will be no consolation, if we pass on a runaway climate to our children. Humanity would be impoverished by ravages of continually shifting shorelines and intensification of regional climate extremes. Loss of countless species would leave a more desolate planet.

If politicians remain at loggerheads, citizens must lead. We must demand a moratorium on new coal-fired power plants. We must block fossil fuel interests who aim to squeeze every last drop of oil from public lands, off-shore, and wilderness areas. Those last drops are no solution. They yield continued exorbitant profits for a short-sighted self-serving industry, but no alleviation of our addiction or long-term energy source.

Government bureaucrats should not be allowed to use their job as a soapbox; nor should they be allowed to receive huge sums of cash for work they have conducted on the taxpayer's dime, from private, liberal interests with a global warming agenda.

Examine the largess culled by Hansen.

In 2001, the Heinz Foundation "awarded" James Hansen with a payment of $250,000 for his work on global warming. According to the foundation:

"It was Dr. Hansen who, in the sweltering, drought-scorched summer of 1988, went where few scientists were willing to go-before Congress, to explain just how serious the potential for global warming truly was."

The Heinz Foundation, directed by the wife of U.S. Senator and former presidential candidate, John Kerry, is widely known for its support of liberal causes. Is it any surprise that James Hansen also endorsed John Kerry for President in 2004? The quarter of a million was just a tease of additional monies to come. In 2007, Hansen split a $1 million prize from the Dan David prize category of "Future Quest for Energy" (layman's translation: a world without oil). In addition he also reported to have acted as a consultant to Gore's global whining slide show, which was the impetus to the Prince of Peace's film, "An Inconvenient Truth." In fact, in 2006 Hansen had the gall to appear on a New York City stage with Mr. Gore to promote the then upcoming film-though he did reportedly inform the audience, "I'm not speaking as a government employee."

Topping it all, Hansen has allegedly received hundreds of thousands of additional dollars to further politicize the issue of global warming. According to Investors Business Daily, "How many people, for instance, know that James Hansen, a man billed as a lonely ‘NASA whistleblower' standing up to the mighty U.S. government, was really funded by [George] Soros' Open Society Institute (OSI), which gave him ‘legal and media advice'? That's right, Hansen was packaged for the media by Soros' flagship ‘philanthropy' by as much as $720,000, most likely under the OSI's ‘politicization of science' program."

Hansen denied any relationship with OSI, but Investor's Business Daily refused to back off on their story, "claiming the funding first passed through the Government Accountability Project, which then used it to package Hansen for the media."

With that kind of cash allegedly lining his pockets, do you think that Hansen will ever allow the data that he is charged with maintaining to point to anything but disaster?

The story has been out for years about how much the fossil fuels industry pays frauds to try to discredit the science and the scientists….   which they will no doubt continue to do until they can either diversify or develop their own stake in alternate energy production.

They can plainly see the writing on the wall (along with their investors and underwriters).

In the meantime, it’s entertaining to see how some are now trying to play both sides of the street.
