I say we find this man and try to talk some sense into him.” 9:01:35 PM 2/01/07 “i blame woman, actually. damn hairspray” 9:06:06 PM 2/01/07 “better move to higher ground stove stomper. serious affects of global warming are already presenting themselves. The sad part is that there will come a time when it will be too late to say, I could have done my part. We'll have to look into the eyes of younger generations and apologize and admit we ignored the warning signs. How is a 3 yearold even going to be able to comprehend this? Global warming will cause wars! It will cause chaos! Diaster is sooner than later. Is it so bad to trade the gas guzzling SUV in for a more efficient car? Is it so hard to recycle? Is it so inconvenient to carpool or use mass transit? Is it so difficult to use efficient light bulbs and appliances? Is it really that much of a pain to be more enery conservative? The things we can do to help will not really impact our lives that much. And even if glabal warming were a hoax, they would still benifit us. Lot of these things can even save us money...in the long run.. wow!! but let's argue about it until the waters rise and the wild fires become too strong to fight and entire cities become gutted by hurricanes we can't even begin to compehend. The landscape will change, politically and geographically.. I wonder which will happen first. Personally, I think it's too late. I don't think we can stop the tide from rising. last edited: 2/01/07 9:51:48 PM” 9:41:55 PM 2/01/07 “Stovie, you're really nice, but you need some sense talked into you.” 9:57:46 PM 2/01/07 “for two centuries we abused this planet. You can't divert rivers, tear down forests, dry up swamps and not expect consquences. The Earth is about balance. The Earth exists because of balances and we're chipping away at it. The first large signs will be massive famines and water shortages. The upheval will be catastrophic. Forest fires will eventually wreck cities. Disease outbreaks will be sudden and kill millions. Panic will ensue.” 10:01:10 PM 2/01/07 “chickens and ducks living together” 10:07:11 PM 2/01/07 “Park in the garage ,leave the car running and close the doors and then just keep your mouth shut for as long as you can,” 10:07:18 PM 2/01/07 crash: you mean dogs and cats? “mass hysteria -- Park in the garage ,leave the car running and close the doors and then just keep your mouth shut for as long as you can,” salebored be my guest... last edited: 2/01/07 10:10:32 PM” 10:09:12 PM 2/01/07 “hysterical masses” 10:10:28 PM 2/01/07 “You silly people ,Exxcon cost every person in this county $.33 aday in 2006 , get it together you fools ,time is ticking.” 10:13:58 PM 2/01/07 “tick tock tick tock” 10:15:08 PM 2/01/07 “Yesterday proved that another attack on this country is unnecessary. Bin Ladin must laughed himselve into bliss.” 10:26:08 PM 2/01/07 “bliss ninnies! tick tock tick tock” 11:33:42 PM 2/01/07 “I say its the enviornmentalists...I mean for MILLIONS of years we have had warming and cooling (see boygeorge when you have an ICE AGE it gets colder when the ice age ends it starts getting warmer...not over a few years but HUNDREDS OF YEARS) but only since the Envior wackos have we had MAN MADE THREATS....I say get rid of the wackos and the enviornment will get back to normal.” 9:33:16 AM 2/02/07 “I read that report this morning, gotta love a well funded research program that reaches the "right" conclusions.... Too bad we insist on funding this kind of study instead of working on stuff that might actually matter ... like better pollution controls, improved solar cells and alternative fuels... Typical of modern science, two sides arguing over the "sexy" stuff and no real work being done. Hang both sides so we can get back to cleaning up our enviroment. I think all the hot air released by this debate to be the real cause of global warming.” 10:06:03 AM 2/02/07 “"Oh Marky just so you will know...its Wednesday at 5PM I will have 45 hours already on the CLOCK." XLax So, you're a clock-a-holic? Its no wonder you have no time for your kids. And an over-stuffed braggart to boot. ".......but one day we may see the UN doing it..." Admiral XLax Oh yeah, and a paranoid whackin' cracker too. Help, the U.N. is gonna take over! Better bury some more ammo in the yard, Colonel Buckshot!” 10:46:18 AM 2/02/07 “XL, I notice that you had no snappy come-back to my last reply to you. Still waiting on your defense of your theory that everyone is just envious of your personal success and wants to take it away under the covers of saving the earth. LOL, you are a trip!” 11:07:35 AM 2/02/07 “The "envy" accusation is truly grasping at straws by those who are quite possibly simply miserable individuals bent on sharing their misery with those whose happy lives they themselves envy. My family and I have been ridiculed by His X-ellency and that other Rotten Heart. I am pleased with my life and have a successful Full House of a family. My wife and sons are "subjected to" live music nearly every day by me and #2 son here mostly played on my handmade instruments. There is another batch of axes in the works that I hope to sell eventually to add to my family's success and to my own personal satisfaction with my artistic pursuits. Mean and Kooky............what a hell of a combination!” 11:32:37 AM 2/02/07 “You will be the death of the earth with your subversive instrument crafting, MarkO! You long-haired hippy types just want to take away all of XL's fun and success with your rebel music making. Away with ye to the dungeons, arrrrrrrr. Back to real life. I agree that he can't be all that happy or stable. As I've said multiple times, reminds me of that other guy that plagued us for so long. Kind of funny how XL stepped right in as the angagonist-of-all just as the other one went away...” 12:34:36 PM 2/02/07 “ROTFLMAO....I love it...can anyone else sense the envy here. As a matter of fact I do have a great family life, my son and daughter spend many fun hours together. The common refrain from libbie socialists is "you can't be happy" when they see a true Conservative who is excited with life. What you desire is not seeing "the rising tide raising all boats" but rather , "droppin the water level to where everyone is grounded and therefore cannot sink any lower". It is the desired goal of shared misery your ilk seek that makes it so much fun to play with you. Tech, money is not that big a deal to me, I pay my bills, I spend time with family and I love what I do. Oh and as for the tinfoil hat accusations about the UN being in no danger of restricting our lifestyles..... http://www.betanews.com/article/US_to_Keep_Control_of_Internet_from_UN/1132175907 While U.S. detractors did not gain United Nations control of the Internet, the agreement will create an body called the Internet Governance Forum that would convene in 2006 to discuss "public policy issues related to key elements of Internet governance." http://www.freedomandprosperity.org/Papers/un-report/un-report.shtml A key United Nations panel recently put forth a series of initiatives that would radically change national and international tax policy. Chaired by Ernesto Zedillo, former President of Mexico, the "High-level Panel on Financing for Development" endorsed the creation of an international tax organization, recommended the imposition of global taxes, and called for a form of tax harmonization known as information exchange. All governments would be expected to acquiesce to this scheme, which will be part of the agenda at the International Conference on Financing for Development, scheduled to take place in Mexico next March. So these are pretty much moot huh? LOL when the day comes that the vast overwhelming number of third world rat holes decide that even you with a "lower income level" subsistence are better off than "MUgaboo" in Kenya.....LOL..maybe then you will see that WHOOPS...those Dang Conservatives were right again.” 12:50:24 PM 2/02/07 “XL - you're like a man standing there with his fingers in his ears shouting 'not listening, not listening!.'” 12:58:54 PM 2/02/07 “Wrong I am the man standing there saying, "HEY CHICKEN LITTLE...its not the Sky, and WE didn't do it." Then I see stuff like this By 1965, the great British climatologist Hubert H. Lamb had synthesized indications of past warm and cold periods spread over the world: ...[M]ultifarious evidence of a meteorological nature from historical records, as well as archaeological, botanical, and glaciological evidence in various parts of the world from the Arctic to New Zealand...has been found to suggest a warmer epoch lasting several centuries between about A.D. 900 or 1000 and about 1200 or 1300...Both the 'Little Optimum' in the early Middle Ages and the cold epochs [i.e., "Little Ice Age" —Eds.], now known to have reached its culminating stages between 1550 and 1700, can today be substantiated by enough data to repay meteorological investigation... http://www.worldclimatereport.com/archive/previous_issues/vol6/v6n2/cutting.htm And I think well that doctor with not one hint of a degree in Meterology or Climatology Dr Pachauri joined the North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA, where he obtained an MS in Industrial Engineering in 1972, a PhD in Industrial Engineering and a PhD in Economics, and also served as Assistant Professor (August 1974 -- May 1975) and Visiting Faculty Member (Summer 1976 and 1977) in the Department of Economics and Business. I start remembering the "experts' who demanded we give in to the SOVIET UNION since they were going to destroy US. And I wonder...why can't the loons on the panel look at the totality of the Science. THEN IT HITS ME. If you declare it a DISASTER you can impose your will on others. If there is an emergency people are more willing to give up freedoms in order to help solve the problem. So you make the boogyman scare the kiddies like the stories of Witches were used in Puritan times....and WALLA you gain control without ever having to prove you have a smidegen of competence.” 1:08:02 PM 2/02/07 “Y2 - yup. la-la-la-la-I-can't-hear-you-la-la-la Let's see, first XL tries to argue that we are going to go back to the stone age (by destroying the economy) if we dare try to curb our emissions. I point out that buy buying CFL's, buying a water heater timer, buying insulation, and buying a new refrigerator, I cut my household emissions 40% compared to this time a year ago. Amazing, by spending some cash I cut my emissions. I know from my college courses that economies do not collapse when people go out and buy a bunch of stuff. His response? la-la-la-la-la (and no comment) Then we got: "Since you cannot fathom what it will take to be successful...you decide you will get Mommy Government to make the rest of us stop being successful.” XL400236 4:23:17 PM 1/31/07 And again, I proved you wrong and you have nothing to say about it. Admit you were wrong. Those of us that promote sensible solutions to global warming will not destroy the global or even local economy doing so, and some of us are more successful than you in more ways than one. Expected response: la-la-la-la-la-la (and another ridiculous postulation)” 1:10:19 PM 2/02/07 “"THEN IT HITS ME. If you declare it a DISASTER you can impose your will on others." Welcome to the Bush playbook for 9/11, you doofus.” 1:11:33 PM 2/02/07 “No I got that Laqtose the intolerant...In fact my Congressman (and a friend) got his ass chewed over the Federal Air Transportation Airport Security Service. As I have said on here MANY times. Let the American People be free to figure out a solution. Often times we can do it cheaper and quicker than the Government. That is why I oppose the WORLD imposition of controls on US>” 1:14:42 PM 2/02/07 “By the way, XL, Gore covers those two little warming blips in his documentary if you care to ever see it. There was also another small one not too long ago, too. The warming trend occuring now is way above those minor warming periods. Time to strike that argument off your list.” 1:15:04 PM 2/02/07 “I'll take your silence as agreement that I was right. Time to take your ball and go home.” 1:19:37 PM 2/02/07 “Gore is God. Global Warming Religion, Book One, Chap One.” 1:21:14 PM 2/02/07 “wow 300 years is a Blip but barely 100 years is IMPORTANT.... Then again...when you are LIME GREEN with envy you can't handle success...seeing people make it while you are stuck...its tough. Oh Techie....they are already saying there is NOTHING we can do....I say pray for another Krakatoa type explosion...that really screwed up the atmosphere...but guess what....IT DIDN'T KILL US ALL??? thats more power and exhaust than all you libbies driving your SUVs to a convention for the life of man....and the World Still SURVIVED (LOL)” 1:25:56 PM 2/02/07 “"As I have said on here MANY times. Let the American People be free to figure out a solution." But that directly contradicts your multiple statements that the "Chicken Littles", "wacky left" and "cute" "college museum studies students" should not be listened to. Sounds like free speech only on your terms.” 1:27:34 PM 2/02/07 “"Governments and environmental groups the world over have greeted the new UN report on the science of climate change with words of praise ..." ""It is another nail in the coffin of the climate change deniers and represents the most authoritative picture to date, showing that the debate over the science of climate change is well and truly over,” said David Miliband, UK environment minister. " "Despite past scepticism by the US administration, the White House backed the report. "It is a comprehensive and accurate reflection of the current state of climate change science,” said Sharon Hays, associate director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy." http://environment.newscientist.com/article/dn11096-key-climate-report-sparks-global-call-to-action.html Note to the anti-warming, Bush-as-defender-of-all-that-is-true lovers: you can stop debating it now, Bush lost that war. last edited: 2/02/07 1:36:21 PM” 1:29:13 PM 2/02/07 “"Note to the anti-warming, Bush-as-defender-of-all-that-is-true lovers: you can stop debating it now, Bush lost that war." Even Bush addressed the issue in his Union speech; along with measures he would like to implement in order to correct it. Sounds like even Bush believes that humans are having a negative impact on the environment.” 1:33:44 PM 2/02/07 “XL - as always your fingers are in your ears. I am not envious of your life, or earnings, or anything else. You are sad. Your fingernails must always bleed from scraping at the side of your self-imposed jail cell walls. Why do you insist that I am envious of you? What is important about the 100 year blip of today compared to the small few-hundred-year blips of before is the CO2 levels are several times higher than they were back then. Off the chart. Again, this is covered in Gore's film, take a look please. BTW, I don't drive an SUV, either. Another guess of yours that is wrong. laqtis - very good point, as usual XL is contradicting himself. (edit: referring to your post 2 posts above) last edited: 2/02/07 1:37:35 PM” 1:35:57 PM 2/02/07 “"laqtis - very good point, as usual XL is contradicting himself. (edit: referring to your post 2 posts above)" Gladly, bliss ninnies like stove and XL are only the minority on this subject. Look at their "sources"; nothing that can even match up to peer-reviewed, primary sources -- it's all "blogs" and other secondary source crapola.” 1:43:36 PM 2/02/07 “On that note I am off to pack for a nice one-nighter trip to the wilderness. Going to be a cold one.” 1:54:47 PM 2/02/07 “Note the WHOLE world is rejoicing...LOL....hell yes if it is going to hamstring the US (see laq when you start putting TAXES and CONTROLS on production you effect the ECONOMY)...oh wait they don't cover that in "Humping your Museum Assistant 101" do they? Tech if you haven't figured out the State of the Union Shows are boob bait for bubbas...(looks like he hooked you) well...LOL...okay. All I am saying is WHY DO WE NEED TO MAKE IT A LAW? Why do we need to enforce your religion (and the Church of the Wacky Enviornmentalist is a Religion much in keeping with any other religion) on ANY ONE?” 1:54:55 PM 2/02/07 “"“Note the WHOLE world is rejoicing...LOL....hell yes if it is going to hamstring the US (see laq when you start putting TAXES and CONTROLS on production you effect the ECONOMY)...oh wait they don't cover that in "Humping your Museum Assistant 101" do they?" Sure thing, blissninny, whatever you "say".” 1:56:49 PM 2/02/07 “As usual, blabbering on and on in half-Engrish, not answering the questions posed to him... la-la-la Not even admitting defeat when his King, Bush of House of White admits HE was wrong. Sigh, sucks to live your life XL. Buh-bye!” 1:58:19 PM 2/02/07 “Sorry they do cover economics in that class...? WOw I just made the humping class up....didn't know that was a Credit course...my bad..... Tech you cannot get politics...wow..sorry no wonder you believe Slick Willie.” 2:11:07 PM 2/02/07 Foolishness and Prattling “There have been fluctuations in the Earth's air and water temps over time. This is not in dispute. These fluctuations were not caused by humans. Humans have been extracting and burning billions upon billions of tons of ancient carbon (coal, oil, natural gas) from the Earth for the past 200-300 years that would otherwise have not been released. There has to be some kind of an effect. Hopefully it won't be as bad as this report says, but then maybe it will. To deny that something is afoot is just foolish. To deny it because the liberals support the theory is foolish and stupid. Cutting off your nose to spite your face. When will people work together? Ha! Never I guess. XL, what is the deal? Do you really think that nothing is going on? Do you get nasty because you're ignorant of the facts? Every time I check in here, these threads devolve into nasty name calling, paranoid accusations and soap box chest thumping about one's self. Do you really care if some one doesn't like that you work for the govenrment? Who are they? Where are they? They are in cyberspace. Who cares. This guy(?) is bothering your family and you? Pffft!!!! Right!!! Obviously they really get under your skin or you wouldn't respond AT ALL. Obviously you all have a need to talk about your life drama on line with strangers. Strangers! Make you friggin banjos, guitars, whatever. What...do you want a bloody medal? I thought this thread was about GLOBAL WARMING. Oh, I get it now. Hot air from bloviating, whining windbags and global warming. I'm at home. How are you guys posting this during the day? How about work? Jesus Peezus. Prattling nonsense.” 2:50:50 PM 2/02/07 “Troll LOL” 2:51:47 PM 2/02/07 “I have to point out that there IS global warming. Only problem for the UN is that it has been occurring for about 12,000 years in North America. With the occasional cold snaps like from the 12th through the 18th centuries, from which we are still emerging.” 3:25:13 PM 2/02/07 “You know they have a theory that they really cannot prove (except by consensus...which if that is science...then the Earth is still the Center of the Universe) and on the other hand we have Islamic Fascisim which is a REAL EVIDENT THREAT (with bodies and empty spots in Manhattan) (regardless of how much we love them libbies) The Former the libbies accept WITHOUT QUESTION the Latter is dismissed as pupfkah. Why? 1. The Global Warming thing is a Religion of Faith...you really have no HARD evidence that your determination are exactly as you say...is it man, the hotter sun, the normal cycle (as the brilliant Stove Stomper so accuratly described). But it allows you to discount people becuase THEY DON'T AGREE WITH YOUR RELIGION...the truth is they are not different than the Islamic Fascists we are told THEY ARE RIGHT we must LEARN HOW TO BE RIGHT LIKE THEM...the sad fact is we can live in caves and eat cold food while they drive by in their SUVs but we will never meet their expectations. The other...well that requires our nation become the BEST, exceed in destroying a real enemy...you can't do that with marches, or feel good speeches...you have to ACT and be RESPONSIBLE to WIN. LOL” 3:35:41 PM 2/02/07 “Hopefully, those who doubt global warming and/or humanity's influence on the weather are correct. But what if they're not? Can we afford the consequences of inaction? We cannot underestimate humanity's effect and influence on the world around us.” 3:39:36 PM 2/02/07 “Laqtose, get thy self a set of drums and pound the hell out it, please!” 3:39:56 PM 2/02/07 “Jmitch...I ask the exact opposite...since it appears the biggest CO2 producers (CHINA and India) are not included in any plan....what if we do destroy our nation's productivity... Then as some Russian Scientists are thinking...we go into another ice age...what happens to the Pseudo Scientists who told us to do this? Like the Meterologist who can't predict 2 days in advance...they can say..."OOPS" but our nation is still destroyed.” 3:59:22 PM 2/02/07 LOL “First it was....Global warming is a myth Then it was....It's natural, you can't prove were causing it. Now it's...We might be contributing to it but we cant try to fix it because it will destroy our nation's productivity. Neanderthals, LOL. last edited: 2/03/07 1:18:44 AM” 1:16:08 AM 2/03/07 “China and India are large CO2 producers as is the U.S. Many forget that the clearing/burning of the equatorial rainforest is as large a contributor to the CO2 levels as is fossil fuel burning. So, add Brazil, Venezuela, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria and several other equatorial countries to the list. last edited: 2/03/07 7:52:11 AM” 7:51:00 AM 2/03/07 “In our local paper today there is a story about climate change. It seems that most people have accepted global warming. Here in Louisiana we are faced with quite a controversy. We stand to be impacted by the rising seas of global warming more so than any other state with 10 to 24 inches of sea level rise this century. That makes it a not in my lifetime event since I'm at 10 feet. I may have to build my dock higher eventually. We are also one of the largest producers of petroleum and petroleum based products in the country. It is definitely economics versus environment here. I fully accept that we are adding to global warming. I personally am creating more than my share of CO2 because I use lots of energy in my life. Even though I know my habits are having an impact, energy is cheap. I enjoy a comfortable home, large cars, boats, travel and other energy demanding activities. Until energy is expensive enough to force me to change my lifestyle I doubt that I will. I just paid last months electric bill it was $155. You can't get daily coffee at Starbuck's for that! Gasoline is below the $2 mark again, and that is cheap, even though the oil producers will still make huge profits at $2 a gallon. I am convinced that the only way we will see alternate energy in mass production is when it's cheaper than fossil fuel. That will be when the supply runs low or we raise taxes. The supply won't be running out soon so the best answer for the immediate future is higher energy taxes.” 5:02:54 PM 2/03/07 “oil runs out a lot soon then you think.... 2030 is projected as lights out. 2008 - opec should control over 50% of exportable oil per capita production of oil is falling at 1.2% per year and is projected to star falling faster by 2012 Still worried about global warming? :{ ( China recently increased its use of oil which is fueling an industrial revolution there by buying almost as much oil as the US... The unexpected chinese demand is expected to increase and was not factored into most projections. )” 6:13:52 PM 2/03/07 Jump to Page << prev
