serious affects of global warming are already presenting themselves. The sad part is that there will come a time when it will be too late to say, I could have done my part. We'll have to look into the eyes of younger generations and apologize and admit we ignored the warning signs. How is a 3 yearold even going to be able to comprehend this?

Global warming will cause wars! It will cause chaos! Diaster is sooner than later.

Is it so bad to trade the gas guzzling SUV in for a more efficient car? Is it so hard to recycle? Is it so inconvenient to carpool or use mass transit? Is it so difficult to use efficient light bulbs and appliances? Is it really that much of a pain to be more enery conservative?

The things we can do to help will not really impact our lives that much. And even if glabal warming were a hoax, they would still benifit us.

Lot of these things can even save us money...in the long run.. wow!!

but let's argue about it until the waters rise and the wild fires become too strong to fight and entire cities become gutted by hurricanes we can't even begin to compehend.

The landscape will change, politically and geographically.. I wonder which will happen first.

Personally, I think it's too late. I don't think we can stop the tide from rising.

I point out that buy buying CFL's, buying a water heater timer, buying insulation, and buying a new refrigerator, I cut my household emissions 40% compared to this time a year ago. Amazing, by spending some cash I cut my emissions. I know from my college courses that economies do not collapse when people go out and buy a bunch of stuff.

“There have been fluctuations in the Earth's air and water temps over time. This is not in dispute. These fluctuations were not caused by humans.

Humans have been extracting and burning billions upon billions of tons of ancient carbon (coal, oil, natural gas) from the Earth for the past 200-300 years that would otherwise have not been released.

Many forget that the clearing/burning of the equatorial rainforest is as large a contributor to the CO2 levels as is fossil fuel burning.

So, add Brazil, Venezuela, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria and several other equatorial countries to the list.

We stand to be impacted by the rising seas of global warming more so than any other state with 10 to 24 inches of sea level rise this century. We are also one of the largest producers of petroleum and petroleum based products in the country. It is definitely economics versus environment here. I fully accept that we are adding to global warming. I personally am creating more than my share of CO2 because I use lots of energy in my life. Even though I know my habits are having an impact, energy is cheap. I enjoy a comfortable home, large cars, boats, travel and other energy demanding activities. Until energy is expensive enough to force me to change my lifestyle I doubt that I will. I just paid last months electric bill it was $155. You can't get daily coffee at Starbuck's for that! Gasoline is below the $2 mark again, and that is cheap, even though the oil producers will still make huge profits at $2 a gallon. I am convinced that the only way we will see alternate energy in mass production is when it's cheaper than fossil fuel. That will be when the supply runs low or we raise taxes. The supply won't be running out soon so the best answer for the immediate future is higher energy taxes.”
