CrazyPace is going to do Pennsylvania, O ct.7th-8th

“FRIDAY NIGHT:
Start at PA route 34 and hike south to James Fry Shelter (2 miles). The trip is a Friday nighter. We'll come up with a meet time, but it'll probably be about 6pm.

SATURDAY:
Hike from James Fry Shelter to Shippensburg Rd. (15 miles)

Upon the finish of this trip CrazyPace will have completed the Appalachian Trail within Pennsylvania, all 231 miles of it.

It will be a time of celebration and CrazyPace will have to do a victory dance, as well as spike his trekking poles in the trailhead parking lot on Shippensburg Rd.

This is a beautiful section of trail, one of the prettiest in Pennsylvania. Hopefully the fall colors will have begun to come out in force by then.

Highlights:
Pine Grove State Park
Micheaux State Forest
Pole Steeple
AT halfway point marker

That's a great section of trail too ~ I used to dayhike Pole Steeple all the time with my dog when I lived in Harrisburg. It's beautiful in the fall.”

Wish I could! I would definitely kidnap my dog on the way through Hbg so we could have 2 border collies on the trip. ;) If for some reason, plans fall through to go to the Gathering, I will be there.”

Also, the term "dickwad" and "bonehead" are used to signify "hiking styles" and not that pacticular persons are indeed "dickwad's" or "boneheads". Technically, any person or persons joining this trip, will automatically be a "bonehead" . In order to become a "dickwad" you must forget to bring a piece of important gear, bring 2 left boots, or forget to bring some kind of spirits to be shared by others on the trip.

If I can get out of the office at 5, that'll put me near Boiling Springs sometime between 7 and 8 depending on traffic. What time are we planning to meet if the hike is on Friday night?”

“We didnt set a time yet, just depends on who gets there first. As long as a car gets shuttled to the finish line, it doesnt matter when people show up. Just get to the trailhead and hike in - its only 2 miles and we'll be waiting with a fire going (unless its raining).”
