Fall Colors near Tahoe???

I want to go up to see some color tomorrow (October 9). I am thinking of Carson Pass area, Hope Valley, Big Meadow trailhead etc. Does anyone have any reports of color up there right now? I will post pictures....”

How are the doggies? I just talked with my friend..she has been to Sorensons twice in the last four days...She says the grove right at Sorensons is pretty much at prime...but the rest of Hope Valley 30% of the trees are still green & even some of the trees that had turned yellow, the leaves have dropped. There is one section she said on the top of Lurther pass that has some red...and then that one huge grove on the right side going down the hill before you get to the junction she says is still green! It is usually brillent with color. It is a toss up on what weekend would be better for you to come...some areas she says have a lot of color..and others at least another week she thinks. Last Thursday I drove down to the end of South upper truckee road..as there are a few groves there..those were all still green. I do not have a report on what Carson pass is doing. Can you come up here this Thursday? some of us are hiking to check out the groves on the way up to big meadow..and then take the left fork trail up to Scotts Lake..there are several groves on that section of trail that are beautiful..but don't know yet what there doing. It would be so neat to see you tomorrow! Im supposed to take pictures of my friends horses in the morning should take about on hour.. I maybe can catch up with you where ever you are..or on your way back out. Let me know if you do decide to come here...and if I find out anymore info on the colors I will email you.

I don't know which way we will be going. It will be me, olive oyl and the girls (dogs). I can't get Thursday off (you self-employed types don't know how good you have it!). If I get any firm idea tonight I will email you. If we end up going up Luther Pass we could hook up with you. It would be fun to hike together. Do you know about an area below Carson Pass (I think on the east side) with some Blue Lakes and a Granite Lake? A friend suggested that. Come to think of it, even if we go up Mormon-Emigrant Trail you could catch up with us. I hope to leave Sacramento by 9 so we should get to Carson Pass by 11.”

“Pepperdog....Im thinking the blue lakes your friend talks about may be the blue lakes which are way out on the blue lakes road..not sure..those you can drive right up to.
I do not have to take pictures of my friends horses until next Sunday now..she wants to wait till then to do it..so that is good..I would be able to meet you and Olive Oyl anytime.
