The plan: 4 days of hiking, dissing each others teams, throwing a nerf, and goofing off.

Group size: The max size we can have at the shelter is 8. We have 5 signed on right now. Arky and Dunadan are signed up, but can't go. The OPIES are on a private permit and are coming in Sat night. There is room for 3 new folks to sign up.

The route:
(10/20) Thur: Treemont to 28, about 6 miles
Fri: 28 to Silers Bald, about 8 miles
Sat: Silers Bald to 23, about 6.5 miles
Sun: 23 to Elkmont, about 7 miles and lose 1000'

We'll meet Thur around 11 EDT at Elkmont, shuttle to Treemont, eat lunch at the TH and headout.

Finally, lots of the planning has taken place on email. If interested, sign up here, but also drop me an email and we'll add you to the email distribution list.

I'd go but with Michigan's record I'd be the camp pound puppy. You guys would padlock a hockey helmet on me and not take it off until Sunday when I leave.

HPM, we did the hay ride this past visit and the kids enjoyed it. It's a whole different experience without a roof over you.

The CC stables does hayrides. It's something like $8 a head. They have a big trailer pulled by a dualie pickup. A ranger sits in the back and talks as you go around. Be sure and pick your seats carefully. We sat where we would be on the inside face of the loop as we drove. My wife thought I was nuts when I picked a different seat from what she picked. It worked out well though.

This past time we walked over to the CC picnic area and then up Anthony Ck Trail a bit. I recommend that.

We also walk part of the cove the days that traffic is closed.

HPM - Bama fans have had fun this week with Texas A&M losing. Lots of A&M boards have been linked to our boards. I saw a post on an A&M board by someone named, "Captain Obvious." I had to wonder if it could be your Captn?

Check out Joe Cool in his shades.

I doubt that DH.
The good Captain just started his Freshman year at the North Carolina School of the Arts. Majoring in theatre automation. We joked that he was studying to be a gay engineer. He said "SSStoph it you guythes!"

Arc-Knowing us we will bug out really early.

I just couldn't imagine it being him, but how many Captain's can there be.

My Enertia food should arrive from Binks anyday. I'm getting excited about this one.

I'm going to add all the domains in the email list to my Blackberry filter so all the madness will make it's way to me at the beach Sat-Wed.

So, do we have the radio and Nerf football covered? Who's bringing what? Do we need more than one radio to pick up different games?

I hope the radio is inexpensive so that when Bama beats UT and I smash it against a rock, it won't be so expensive to replace. :D
