I met Easy1, 82, 5xAT

“I met Easy1. I was on the Big Creek Trail doing a few steps to Midnight Pond. He was just finishing a 40 mile, 4-day backpacking trip to and from Peck's Corner. Part of his hike was a loop.

He said that he is 82 and has done the Appalachian Trail five times. He continued that the last time was last year and that there was an article written about him. If you have more time, perhaps you can locate it. I did find this:

With two throw-away cameras in my pockets, I did not even think to take his picture. Sorry for that. I wish that I had his knees. His hiking puts me to shame, but I am trying to finish a special accomplishment with my current hiking.”

“I met that guy on my thru last year. Actually saw him twice along the way as he did a flip flop, both heading south bound. Seemed like a nice fella. Apparently last years hike made him the oldest to ever thru-hike.”

“CB, remember at Trails Days Model T was talking about him. (Did you go to his presention) Model T said he was going to have to wait till 85 to do the AT again so he could be the oldest”

“I was in that area last Wednesday and Thursday morning as per this string. I stayed overnight at Big Creek. Tomorrow I'm headed to Greenbriar to try for overnights in each of the three campsites (31, 32, 33) there. They are going to start painting the roof of my car on Monday here in Bryson City.

Then I want to get three campsites accessible only by water. I already have CS#87. Then, if I can get to 23 out of Elkmont, this trip will be over. So after that, chili36, I would like to party with you, cottonsocks, smokygirl and her father, if possible, before I head for Florida. I will have a nice announcement to make. No, not quite that nice!
