Some Canadian guy, Les Stroud, being dumped in various locations with a few bits of kit and works out how to get out. Had costa rica, british columbia in winter and Georgia swamp. Sonoran next week. Friday's at 9pm eastern, then a bunch of other obscure times over the weekend.” 3:06:30 PM 10/17/05 “There's another one like that, "Getting Lost" with (some guy whose name escapes me right now). Plus there's "Going Tribal" where a white boy from England goes all over the world to be initiated into the cultures of different sorts of tribal peoples. I watched the one on the Mongolians, it was very interesting. Of course the worst thing they make you do is ride a Mongolian pony and eat a sheep's eye.” 3:09:00 PM 10/17/05 “I first saw him and only watched because he is in Canyonlands in Utah. It almost got the best of him. He was kind of whining! But he's great! I started a thread on him but I can't find it. I love how he carries around all his own camera equipment-55 lbs. last edited: 10/17/05 3:14:28 PM” 3:10:23 PM 10/17/05 “Oh, and I just netfixed Michael Palin's Himalaya.... yay me! I do get a little sus about it, have a feeling he's got a camera crew visiting sometimes. It seems to be based on a show by a Brit guy, Ray Mears, which for some reason the discovery channel hasn't found here yet. I've seen the going tribal thing too bit, very entertaining.” 3:15:24 PM 10/17/05 “I've been seeing the advertisements for survivorman on the Discovery Channel and am supper upset my sucky cable company doesn't have the Science channel. Say it with me... Cox = Looooooossssers” 4:15:54 PM 10/17/05 “I record the show and watch it later...but got to be honest...I don't think he's doing it on his own...I think he's cheating. There always conviniently things poping up...that he needs...he gets teh fire going...but you never really actually see how he starts it. still...i like watching it. my younger son watched it yesterday for the first time...he got a kick out of it too... I watched it yesterday...Georgia swamp... interesting!! Especially the 3 log float. lol” 6:30:37 PM 10/17/05 “I don't know, maybe he was lying but in the Canyonlands episode, he explained about the large camera and the little hand held. He hadn't eaten and said that he was too weak to set up the big camera and do the 'fancy shots' as he called them. He said that he was dropped off and had to hike to a certain place to meet up with them. He also did the same when he was in Canada and almost freezing. They had found an old light plane crash and he was doing a 'how to survive in the wilderness if you crash'. Really cool, since he bandaged up 1 arm for 3 days and did everything like that.” 6:38:12 PM 10/17/05 “what channel carries "Going Tribal" and which one carries "Georgia Swamp"?” 7:07:41 PM 10/17/05 “tango...that's exactelly my point. the old plane crash was put there thou for him on purpose to simulate a plane crash...but everything else...camera views...etc...na! I don't believe him on everything!! Charlette....whatcha talking bout?? the science channel??” 5:55:20 AM 10/18/05 “The ads here say Survivorman is on the Science Channel. I've never heard of the science channel...apparently you haven't either...lol Down here for entertainment I reckons we're supposed to just continue to sit on the porch and watch traffic pass. Feels like I'm living a live version of flippin HEE HAW!” 7:34:04 AM 10/18/05 “Science channel used to be Discovery Science. Going Tribal is on straight discovery, 9pm, Tuesdays or Thursdays' can't remember which.” 12:58:27 PM 10/18/05 “"Straight" discovery, as opposed to....” 12:59:59 PM 10/18/05 “Gay TLC?” 1:00:31 PM 10/18/05 “One thing that really pisses me off is that the National Geogrpahic channel seems to have cut right back on it's nature programs in favor of plane crashes.” 1:01:11 PM 10/18/05 “Bravo is MUCH gayer than TLC” 1:02:58 PM 10/18/05 “Has anybody watched Dirty Jobs? It is a hoot!!! The guy is just too funny and the jobs are sometimes surprising. Like who would've thought that making ground coffee is nasty! It is actually a very cool show. As to Survivorman, when he was in Canyonlands he had nothing but the parts from a bike he rode in on. I think the premise of the show is what to do if... therefore the plane crash, and the mountain bike in Canyonlands, and the raft in (I think) Columbia. I like it.” 4:18:30 PM 10/18/05 “Yah, I've watched Dirty Jobs a time or two. It is funny. The one where he is helping collect honey is pretty good. They have him filling honey bears, and he makes a total mess of it because the spigot they had didn't have a stop at the "off" point...if you pushed it too far it just came back on again. The regulars at the job were used to it, but he wasn't and he got honey all over the place.” 4:23:56 PM 10/18/05 “He's in the Sonoran Desert tonight.” 5:23:27 PM 10/21/05 “It's on right now! He's at Baffin Island. He's simulating his snowmobile breaking down and him being stuck out in the middle of near nowhere. one of the Arctic Islands in the north of Canada in the territory of Nunavut. It is the largest island in Canada and is the 5th largest island in the world.” 8:07:04 PM 10/28/05 “id really like to see this but i dont have the science channel why dont they put this on a major channel like discovery, or tlc? grrrrrrrrr” 8:27:42 PM 10/28/05 “When I get my dvd recorder hooked up I'll burn a few episodes for you.” 8:33:21 PM 10/28/05 Survivorman: Lost at Sea “The Location: Caribbean Sea, off Belize Coast The Ecosystem: Ocean The Challenge: Survive for a week in an inflatable life raft after being set adrift. The Supplies: A life raft, bucket, hand pump and 50 pounds of camera equipment. It's on tonight at 9PM” 8:07:36 AM 12/16/05 “oooh, don't think I've seen that one” 8:35:44 AM 12/16/05 “I finally caught this Survivorman the other night, the one in Canada. It was pretty good.I would have S**T if he really did break his arm with that hatchet!!LOL In case anyones interested another one where hes lost at sea is on Jan 18-19.http://dsc.discovery.com/tvlistings/episode.jsp?episode=5&cpi=30469&gid=0&channel=DSC” 11:18:45 AM 1/13/06 “http://search.discovery.com/search?proxystylesheet=dscMain&site=dscContent%7CdscNews&client=dscMain&output=xml_no_dtd&filter=0&getfields=*&q=survivorman&go.x=16&go.y=11 This has more listings for that show” 11:21:32 AM 1/13/06 “On Friday night (tonight)..Science Channel...this episode is titled Mountain, which I've not yet seen....cool.....I like mountains...” 11:44:43 AM 1/13/06 “Well dont tell me how it ends !!! I dont get Science channel ,so I have to wait.LOL” 11:49:12 AM 1/13/06 “To be honest, I think a good section would be to go back to these places with a crew and film another segment where he talks to local experts and shows other survival methods.” 11:50:47 AM 1/13/06 ““To be honest, I think a good section would be to go back to these places with a crew and film another segment where he talks to local experts and shows other survival methods Yeah I agree-on the episode I watched he didnt really go into any details or explain much about how he did things like start the fire with the flint and hatchet.” 11:55:53 AM 1/13/06 “He does sometimes just seem to go a week without eating much. Would be nice for him to do it, then talk to local people and find out what he could have done and what oppotunities he missed out on.” 12:03:23 PM 1/13/06 “At 10 tonight: Jungle” 12:05:52 PM 1/20/06 “Is it a repeat?” 12:09:35 PM 1/20/06 “yeah, he's only done a few of them.” 12:17:49 PM 1/20/06 “I'm not sure when it started running on the Science Channel. There are only nine episodes plus a "making of" episode in the first season. He is going to do a second season, but I'm not sure when that will be filmed or will air. So to come as close as I can to answering your question, this is the Costa Rican episode, This program originated in Canada. The Science Channel runs the program from Friday night with repeats through the weekend, and Discovery Channel runs one-half-hour abbreviated episodes later.” 12:18:01 PM 1/20/06 12:18:53 PM 1/20/06 “thanks for the reminder!” 1:05:56 PM 1/20/06 “10 p.m. Tonight: Plane Crash” 10:37:26 AM 1/27/06 “I don't want to ruin it for ya but..... he survives.” 10:42:22 AM 1/27/06 “The Rocky mountain episode was on WED night.I thought that was the best one so far.” 10:53:58 AM 1/27/06 “yeah, the rocky mountain one is the best I think. Like I say, I'd love to see him go back with some local experts and shown things he could have done but didn't.” 11:05:21 AM 1/27/06 “I wish they would rerun the one where he is in Canyonlands, it was GREAT!! I think I've seen every episode now.” 11:14:43 AM 1/27/06 “He does that before he goes in. He learns what there might be to eat, what dangers might lurk, and whatever else he needs to know.” 11:15:41 AM 1/27/06 “Tango, Canyonlands will air again on Feb. 3.” 11:18:17 AM 1/27/06 “well kinda Geo, he learns his stuff, but a lot of the time it seems to be, man doesn't eat for seven days, walks out of wilderness. there's lots of traditional skills he could show for catching fish and stuff. Just seperate it off from the bit when he's on his own.” 11:20:44 AM 1/27/06 “Streamweaver, you're getting shortchanged on the Discovery Channel on Wednesday nights. That show is a half-hour digested version of an hour-long show that airs Fridays at 10 on the Science Channel. After that show, it airs a few more times on the Science Channel. See the Science Channel website for times and days.” 11:21:59 AM 1/27/06 “In the plane crash show, he catches a rabbit, according to the info on the website.” 11:23:07 AM 1/27/06 “well ok, there are a few exceptions. I really like the show, there's just a lot more skills that could be put across in conjunction with it.” 11:25:34 AM 1/27/06 “I agree, but I suppose there is just so much he can do in an hour, and the show is pretty specific about skills needed in that particular environment. He tried to catch a seal in the Arctic, but it never happened. He went out to snare some kind of bird in the Canadian Rockies, but got turned back in a bog. I thought to myself, "Damn, his luck is about like my luck!"” 11:48:03 AM 1/27/06 “My wife and I watched one the other night, in one in the Canadian boreal forest. She thinks it's fake because he seems to keep leaving cameras behind. He waded out into a pond to pull up some kind of root to eat, does anyone remember what that was?” 9:23:56 AM 2/03/06 “He plants cameras on a tripod, walks off into the distance, and then walks back to retrieve the camera, then walks back to the distance. He walks part of the route three times. Don't recall the root. Tonight at 10 is the Grand Canyon episode. last edited: 2/03/06 10:02:04 AM” 10:01:40 AM 2/03/06
