“I first saw him and only watched because he is in Canyonlands in Utah. It almost got the best of him. He was kind of whining! But he's great! I started a thread on him but I can't find it. I love how he carries around all his own camera equipment-55 lbs.

“I record the show and watch it later...but got to be honest...I don't think he's doing it on his own...I think he's cheating. There always conviniently things poping up...that he needs...he gets teh fire going...but you never really actually see how he starts it.

still...i like watching it. my younger son watched it yesterday for the first time...he got a kick out of it too...

“I don't know, maybe he was lying but in the Canyonlands episode, he explained about the large camera and the little hand held. He hadn't eaten and said that he was too weak to set up the big camera and do the 'fancy shots' as he called them. He said that he was dropped off and had to hike to a certain place to meet up with them. He also did the same when he was in Canada and almost freezing. They had found an old light plane crash and he was doing a 'how to survive in the wilderness if you crash'. Really cool, since he bandaged up 1 arm for 3 days and did everything like that.”

“tango...that's exactelly my point. the old plane crash was put there thou for him on purpose to simulate a plane crash...but everything else...camera views...etc...na! I don't believe him on everything!!

“Has anybody watched Dirty Jobs? It is a hoot!!! The guy is just too funny and the jobs are sometimes surprising. Like who would've thought that making ground coffee is nasty! It is actually a very cool show.

As to Survivorman, when he was in Canyonlands he had nothing but the parts from a bike he rode in on. I think the premise of the show is what to do if... therefore the plane crash, and the mountain bike in Canyonlands, and the raft in (I think) Columbia. I like it.”

They have him filling honey bears, and he makes a total mess of it because the spigot they had didn't have a stop at the "off" point...if you pushed it too far it just came back on again. The regulars at the job were used to it, but he wasn't and he got honey all over the place.”

Yeah I agree-on the episode I watched he didnt really go into any details or explain much about how he did things like start the fire with the flint and hatchet.”

“well kinda Geo, he learns his stuff, but a lot of the time it seems to be, man doesn't eat for seven days, walks out of wilderness.

there's lots of traditional skills he could show for catching fish and stuff. Just seperate it off from the bit when he's on his own.”

“well ok, there are a few exceptions. I really like the show, there's just a lot more skills that could be put across in conjunction with it.”

“I agree, but I suppose there is just so much he can do in an hour, and the show is pretty specific about skills needed in that particular environment.

He tried to catch a seal in the Arctic, but it never happened. He went out to snare some kind of bird in the Canadian Rockies, but got turned back in a bog. I thought to myself, "Damn, his luck is about like my luck!"”

“My wife and I watched one the other night, in one in the Canadian boreal forest. She thinks it's fake because he seems to keep leaving cameras behind.

He waded out into a pond to pull up some kind of root to eat, does anyone remember what that was?”

“He plants cameras on a tripod, walks off into the distance, and then walks back to retrieve the camera, then walks back to the distance. He walks part of the route three times.
