go by the time...that just a cheap piece of plastic...if you're really really paranoid just cut into it...if it's all white it's done...but the times on the package are pretty acurate

Meat thermometer is the only way to go. Providing you have it properly calibrated.

I fried up the um...giblet thingies for the pup and let him have them. Vet says he's still way to thin. I feed this damn thing 2 times a day and he gets loads of treats....
I think its just the build of our puppy. I know he eats, Ive never seen anything poop so much lol!

I think chicken and turkey is cooked 10 or 15 minutes per pound as a general rule. If it has surpassed that, I'd take it out, UNLESS, you have opened the oven many times and lowered the cooking temperature which would cause the turkey to need further cooking.

Spirit, a meat thermometer is a separate long piece of metal with a round temperature guage on top so you can stick the meat/turkey with the long pointy edge to take a temperature reading. Different meats/poultry require different temperatures they have to reach inorder for them to be done and you also have to know what part of the turkey to put the thermometer in.

*****As far as your dog goes, does he look to eat more food? If he doesn't, he may not like his food, so you need to find something better that is more palatable for him where he will eat more. If he is just pooping it all out, it sounds like the food you are feeding him may be of poor quality. Those types of food have many undigestible ingredients that just go in one end and come out the other. Also, different foods have different calories. So if you do switch foods, it may make a difference in how much you feed him.

If you buy a new food, transition him to the new stuff little by little, like 10% a day or he may get diarreah. The Natura company makes a puppy food that is excellent. This is their site, www.naturapet.com.

This is the actual page for the pupppy food which is excellent and I think if you fed this to your dog, he would gain weight:

http://naturapet.com/display.php?d=product-detail&pxsl=%2F%2Fproduct%5B@id%3D%27502%27%5D

It's 500 calories per cup, so it may be cheaper to feed since it probably has more calories than the food you are presently feeding him. The site has a store locator to find where they sell it. You'll notice the food has an animal protein listed as the first 3 ingredients, so your dog is getting a good amount of animal protein which they need since they are carnivores. Compare it to the ingredients in what you are feeding your dog now.

What are you feeding your puppy?

Also, pet stores take back food if your dog does not do well on it, so keep receipts. I can almost guarantee your dog will love this food and gain weight. Oh yeah, the actual name is INNOVA puppy food. Natura makes a few different lines of food.

Me personally I buy the little plastic turkey timers separately if the turkey doesn't already come with one. If the turkey is stuffed it will take longer to cook.

EASY TURKEY RECIPE
Here is a turkey recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing - imagine that. When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out. Give this a try.

BAKED STUFFED TURKEY

6-7 lb. Turkey

1 cup melted butter

1 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is good.)

1 cup uncooked popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHER'S LOW FAT)

Salt/pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter salt, and pepper. Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven. Listen for the popping sounds.

When the turkey's ass blows the oven door open and the turkey flies across the room, it's done.

And, you thought I couldn't cook...

I watched a family of idiots burn their house trying to FRY a turkey the first time. The bought the fryer, turkey, injection stuff, peanut oil etc.

Filled....FILLED the cooker...got the oil boiling to beat the band...and Dropped the turkey in. The wind was blowing that day so they took the fryer in the GARAGE!

Apparently no one in the family considered the fluid displacement of a 13 lb turkey. Boiling FLAMING oil sprays across the garage and ignites the obligatory 5 gal gas tank with the Paper towel stopper....

So we get the fire knocked down and the hubby is demanding I give him a determination that the cooker malfunctioned. He had already talked to his attorney.
