I need to go backpacking!

I also think it's kinda odd there were no existing threads with this title.

Well, you had your chance with us last weekend, but nooooooo

That is odd, and I agree, I need to go backpacking. It's been over 3 weeks since I've gone and I really want to try out my new pack. It's been hanging on my wall mocking me ever since I bought it.

Had too much to do, hurricane damage and all. :-(

I'm sick of working on the house. I need to go backpacking for my mental health.

I'm thinking of driving up to the Sipsey in a couple of weeks, walking in a few miles, set up camp, and just chill for a couple of days. Maybe take my new HOI style saw and work out my anger at the insurance guys on a blowdown, or maybe not.

I wish I could take my gas powered chainsaw.
That thing is a GREAT anger reliever! LOL

I have a Dr appointment that Fri, Ewker. I wouldn't have time to drive as far as KY.

Mention KY and that came right to your mind, Ewker? LOL

Not that, thank goodness. The Dr has me on Blood Pressure meds and it's time to see if they are working or need to be adjusted.

I love my chainsaw....

Me, chasing my Insurance Guy (I can dream)

This reminds me of the radio skit I heard about Kentucky jelly on biscuits. I've passed that along on TT. A guy called the comments number for J&J and said he sure did like that Kentucky Jelly on his biscuits, it had a minty aftertaste tho. They replied it wasn't for consumption.
What's is fahr then?
Lubrication.
Ya mean like WD-40?

You get the picture.

I kept my chainsaw from the divorce. It hasn't been used in a while though.

MD is a bit too much of a drive from the MS Gulf Coast. ;-)

Come on up to Arab AL...(Guntersville Lake), and I'll show you the islands I yak about on the weekends!....(only a little further than the sipsey ya know......)

Himmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Dang, ST, that's a good idea. Let me think on it. :-)

Plus, I wouldn't be tempted to chase Ewker with my chainsaw. ;-)

SS - Guntersville is maybe 1:30 from B'ham. I can tell you a shortcut so that you don't have to drive into town.

I know a trip at that time of year won't quite have that same warm feeling, but that's a good thing.

I was trying to convince a few of the folks at footballapallooza that they needed to make that trip. Chili, Cottonsocks, Dayhiker, Longlosthiker, Cocoa, the Opies, Treeclimber, ...

They'd all enjoy the trip. We just need to convince them to get beyond their comfort level. Chili was afraid of tipping over seeing as he's a big guy. I told him kayaks were more stable than canoes. Dayhiker was afraid of open-ocean paddling. I told him there wasn't any. We just need to sell a few folks on the idea.

Maybe we can enlist Rad and Om. Maybe we can convince Smokey Girl to return. Maybe Jerbear would make an appearance. We could have a great trip at that time of year.

I'm heading to the Smokies (again) next week. I won't be doing any "real" backpacking, just dayhikes, finding things to draw or paint, and some christmas shopping. ;)

What a wienie! ;-)

arc - my specific fear related to a trip that gojo posted. SS was also afraid for my safety. I actually want to make a trip down there, but that specific one sounded iffy.

Nope, no $ needed. The fee was mostly for gas money for the church van.

We do need to set up a shuttle so I figured we could put the van at one end and your truck at the other.

That cool with you?

My truck got flooded with sea water up into the dash during the hurricane so it's not very reliable right now. ALLSTATE should total it when they around to it.

I'll be in my Toyota Corolla which can only hold four, but I will be happy to place it at whatever trail end you need, to shuttle at least a couple of people back to your van.

We will only need to fit you and I so no issues there.

Toyota
It doesn't have a sunroof so you may not fit.

My truck was the only thing damaged that I have full insurance on, so I'm not so bummed about it. It still kinda runs. I'm going to buy it back from the insurance co. as salvage and drive it a few more years till it rusts out.

I'm bringing Laurel a little gift for you to pass to her. It's a predatory mammal shaped object filled with South Mississippi insect secretions.
