Like Dayhiker said, the classes are very interesting. We had 2 days of classes that lasted all day. 8 couples started on Saturday and only 3 returned on Sunday.

Try to stay for the whole course, you will learn a lot!

The heartbeat made me well up a bit. Wait until you see that later ultrasounds! If you get a good tech, they should be able to point out everything! You will see his/her head, eyes, hands. I lost it there! I was blubering like a baby.

Then you get here!

I just got done talking with my sister and her screaming baby on the web cam.

I am so sorry thrifty that you will have to go through this. ;-) I'll promise you...it'll get better... after 30 years or so.

Na, j/k congrats! Kids are the best thing that can happen to a happily married couple.

Congrats! There must be something in the water around here. ;) When is her due date?

We're doing our classes in Jan. The schedules are all screwy (because of the holidays) for our timing, so we are doing the 2 day crash course thing.

the class was pretty fun...they made all the husbands wear a 35 pound back pack on their front to simulate what the women will be carrying...i was, of course, used to the weight but having it on the front was weird...i also (re)learned all the stuff i learned in 5th grade about the food pyramid and female anatomy(hee hee, i saw a vagina)...the stuff about nutrition must have sunk in, i'm eating soup and carrot and celery sticks for lunch

IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!
We just had our "big" ultrasound and my wife and mine's prayers have been answered. We both wanted a boy. Oh yea, he's healthy too. Doc says he's gonna be tall but that's no surprise. I'm 6'3" and my wife is 6'. He's also a proud boy. The doctor kept trying to measure and inspect other stuff but he kept putting is junk up front so that's all you could see. That's my boy. ;)

Well we had a boy, then I tried too hard and blew the balls of the second one. My daughter is 11 going on 16 and she is the younger of the two but definitely the more mature. Her 16 year old brother is a ....DARN Teenage boy.

Congrats on the kid. Hope he is healthy this can be a real neat moment. Is this your first?

Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Thrifty. It's gonna help to be thrify when he arrives. It's gonna cost a bundle to raise your little bundle of joy. The first time he says dad take me camping, it will all be worth it though.

my boss ran out a few hours ago to be with his wife who is due to pop.

I agree with the bateaux guy, I took the kidlets camping at 18 months (I'dve taken them earlier, but I'm not the mom) but I get a kick out of it when the girl says "are we EVER going camping again!"

When I came into work today there was tons of confetti and "it's a boy" confetti on my desk with streamers and signs. They also lined up little plastic babies on my computer with their butts facing me and a diaper with "poop" in it. I'm assuming it was chocolate, that's what it tasted like anyway (j/k). That confetti really did a number on my keyboard. Took me forever to get it all out.

thrify - brainwash him early. Mine went camping for the first time at about 10 months. Both of mine love to go camping and they always equate camping with the Smokies. My son now backpacks a bit and loves it. It's a great experience, but you already know that.

Congrats. It only gets better from here. Well, the last 4 weeks of pregnancy aren't alot of fun.

I took my kids to Mardi Gras in New Orleans in 2000...my son was about 13/14......they wanted to at least walk down Bourbon St....so we did....there was a group of men with cameras surrounding a woman...they were yelling.." come on "...and her husband/boyfriend was encouraging her....about the time she lifted up her shirt to show her breasts, I pushed my son into a doorway...he complained later saying " dang mom...it was my first time to see real boobs"...I told him he has seen boobs before....he was breast fed...LOL....he was a little grossed out and embaressed......LOl...It was WONDERFUL.....LOL....I totally enjoyed his reaction!!!!
