Kelty Flight 3

“Do you need three-person capacity?

For two people (who are friendly) the Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight 2 is a great tent. For three, you might still be able to find a Clip 3, but not sure if any are still around.”

“That tent looks nice, and the price is right, but I'm 6'4" and the people I backpack with are big also. From your experience, will this be big enough?”

“Well, I'm 6' and have plenty of room. My brother (who's about 6'2") and I have shared this tent before and been okay. A couple of really big guys would find it cramped.

I poked around looking at 3-person tents yesterday because I'm thinking of getting one so I can take both my kids backpacking. There's not too many in the lower-end price range that are double-walled.

If you don't mind spending a little extra, look at the SD Hyperlight AST 3. Campmor has it for about $240 right now, and it looks plenty big for three people.”
