I keep a partially inflated thermarest under me, which lets me use the Hennessy to around 30 degrees, if its a calm night.

I use a DAM in cold weather - so far the lowest I have gone is 10 deg F - that was with the DAM plus a CCF pad (walmart blue) - this is what I plan on using for Mt. Rogers

jackstraw - check out Jack's R Better for down underquilts http://jacksrbetter.com/ - not sure if they would work well for a Clark hammock like what you use but they might be usable

I've been in my Hennessy down to 20F and been comfortable...I have their underquilt and over cover...I stuffed, as I always do, clothes between the bottom of the hammock and the underquilt which was lined, not with the closed cell foam pad you get with the undercover but with my thinly, foam lined reflective sheet. I always use a Thermarest ultralight inside the hammock winter or summer. However, once the temps go below 50F, I change from quilt to FF Eider -20 down bag...the down can be arranged so, in warmer temps, most of it is below me...I tried it out last winter in the backyard and was perfectly comfortable..except my nose got cold...I do not want to carry lots more bulk in winter just to sleep in a hammock...I might experiment more this winter but I shall make sure my tent is set-up nearby until I am sure of the hammock below 20F..and, around here 20F is a balmy, winter night.....
