a great day!!!
Found out today that one of my good friends is getting to rotate home after 12 months in Iraq. She will arrive stateside next tues, I wish I could be at green ramp to meet her.

Her brother ( and my best friend) was killed in fallujah just a few days over 2 years ago. She was offered a "compassionate reassignment" when her unit (a med battalion attached to the 82nd abn) was given its orders. Just like her brother she insisted that she be allowed to serve (he was non deployable due to over 18 months of service in bosnia, then afghanistahn). She stepped up and led her people by example. So the little girl who was brought into my first grade class for show and tell is now a Captain and the 4th of her siblings to serve her Nation with Pride and Honor. God Bless you Suze and all those who serve us selflessly.

I'm sure there's a very proud family there birch and I agree, you have some terrific, selfless friends who put honor and others first. My hat's off to her and her comrades. Glad to hear she's coming home.

Congrats and give her a big welcome home! That's an inspiring tale.

My son is leaving to go back in December on his second tour.

I'm glad she has a friend like you to be part of her welcome, whether its at the Green Ramp or sometime later.

We owe a huge debt to her and people like her, and your dear lost friend.

Our welcome home to her is to be a week long trip to Isle Royale this spring. She lived in Calumet almost all her life and never went. Next month we'll take her to REI to start getting geared up. =)

Just got a graduation announcement in the mail from Suzy and PJ's nephew. He graduated basic training Oct 15 and will be airborn Nov 15! They truly are a military family.
