Nigal my day is worse!
I went out to walmart to stock up on birdfood and backpacking food and when I came home, not only had the pup managed to empty EVERY garbage can into the living room......

But he ate holes in my hiking trail runners and he ate my comfy ground sitting pad! :O!

And to top that....he left a nice gooey mess of poopy in the hall and rolled in it!

I think he's just pissed i'm leaving him behind and I think the poopy WAS an accident as it was very runny.

But the freakin trash, and the gear...he KNEW what he was doing lol!

He pooped and rolled in it because he wanted you to give him a bath.

I had a golden retriever years ago that rolled in coyote poop on a dayhike and on the way home she puked in my van. I wasn't to thrilled with her on that day.

Look at it as an excuse to buy more gear! There is a bright side!

You could always get your puppy detoothed.

It's cheaper just to never feed him.

Well..........
Gnawing and pooping are the main things pups do. The chewing everything in sight usually lasts till two years old.

Yup, either crate train the little fellar or put him in a puppy-proofed room when you leave him. It's all part of raising a dog. SS is right...it lasts until they're about 2 years old. He's probably mad at you for leaving him alone.

I once had a dog bring every one of my wife's shoes out of a closet and into the living room and chew on most of them. My shoes were right next to hers in the closet and the dog didn't touch them.

Looking for food, chewing, and pooping. All things dogs LOVE to do, especially when they are young. Just remember that unless you catch distruct-o in the act that he has forgotten what he did. Punishing him won't do a hell of a lot of good. In the end behaviors that are rewarded are repeated. He already got his reward when he dug in the trash, chewed the shoe, pooped on the floor, etc.

Man, I love dogs! (seriously)

pitts is right. The "rubbing the nose in it" is totally useless. They don't remember. So in a way it's pretty cruel.

I sympathize tho. Doggies can be so destructive! Oh my goodness. I'll take my little puking cat any day.

LOL he has been doing so well to. We tried crateing him and he absolutly hated it. Infact his behavior was a LOT worse. when we decdided to just use an empty room for him when were at work, hes been so much better. this was actually the first time he has been destructive (other then pooping on the floors) I was only gone for about half an hour. I think he just knows somethings up...I was leaving and he knew as I am his favorite person I think. he's never behavied like that. The most hes done before is chew up his toys and carry my bunny slippers around.

yep, seperation anxienty. You gotta get dog-proof trash cans. Wasn't your other doggie there with him. That should help. But sounds like he needs crate training.
