Fall and the Senses...

“This morning I decided to split up a HUGE piece of fat lighter my Dad brought up sometime during the summer. Winter will be here soon and a fire every now and then makes the house feel great. Every year I forget until I start to split a big chunk of lighter how good it smells..it always feels like fall with the first whack.”

“twig - It's what we Southerners call the remains of an old pine stump, still filled with resin. You chop off splinters and they light very easy and burn hot from all the pine resin. You use them to 'light' your fires. That's why they are called 'lighter'.

“Carlette, I have several boxes of that stuff--it's packaged and sold under the name "Fatwood." It's an awesome firestarter.....so much resin in it the smoke is black.”
