Finally things have slowed down here for me to post. Ala and I had a great time this weekend seeing old friends and making new ones. What a way to spend the weekend. Sorry about making everyone wear blindfolds when I carried ya’ll to that secret place. But at least now ya’ll understand why the blindfolds. Eat your heart out Dayhiker. I really needed this trip to rest and clear my mind. I work to dang much and occasionally I need a get away from the cell phone, beeper, intercom, and radio trips. As it turned out I would likely have been out there Friday night anyway. 3 boys got lost and the rescue squad was called out. That was on the other side of the forest. Some coon hunters found the boys later that night. When Ala and I came in we circled wide east to check on the condition of some wildlife in the area. We were disappointed, as we didn’t find a lot of sign on the west side of the route in. We circled back to the first water fall and went down the draw to the other side of Quillian without finding much. When we came out we went strait up the hill from the draw. When we got to the top and inside the heavy brush we found where a huge buck was hiding out. There is a huge scrape on top with some gigantic rubs. We knew there was still some of the big boys out there but they are just hard to find. We followed that ridge and found solid evidence of one of the black critters I told ya’ll about. Back near the draw near the lower waterfall we evidence of three does with young fawns. One of them a newborn. We checked out another section back to the east and found those turkeys I thought would be roosting in the area. We circled back to the draw to the higher waterfall and continued up the draw. We decided to go to the riddle hands up tree. At the tree we saw where Toph had walked within two feet of this tree. I hope ya’ll saw it; we noticed Ya’ll stopped there for a little while. Trip & Fall and Forest Dump went over to the water right beside it but it looked like Ya’ll may have walked right past it. Toph and Walkabout didn’t break their stride but Bateauxdriver turned toward the tree. I don’t know if he was looking at it or the boys. Anyway If ya’ll didn’t see it I now have coordinates. We went all the way up the draw until we hit the trail ( yes there is actually a trail ) that goes into Kings cove and came out that way. We didn’t get back to the trailhead until noon. We actually enjoy going the cross-country routes.

I looked but never saw it. Might be awhile before I get back over in that area but I'd like those coordinates if you don't mind...I don't think mine are accurate.

Sounds like I missed a great trip but it turns out things may have been a little uncomfortable for me had I come along. We did a dayhike on Saturday and my boots blew out so yesterday I went to Diamond Brand Outdoors and got to have the "Fit Sytem" done and now I have a great fitting pair of boots. I went in looking for the Sundowners but turns out my best fit was a little cheaper, the Montrail Treverse.

Thanks to all for a warm Welcome
This was the first camping trip my dad (TOM) and I have been on together in about 12 years. It was great meeting each one of you and I appreciate the experience. Hope to see you all again soon.

I took very few pics it seems. I only have 10 worthy of posting. I'm glad Stovie and Toph took a bunch. Most of my wounds and hurts are already healed and cooler weather is headed this way. Let's go back NOW!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to the next trip!

I blew out the knee and the rear of my pants when I fell trying to walk up mossy rocks in Parker Creek. Now I've got a cut up arm, banged up knee and a bruised ego. But I had a great time!!!!!

Gretings to all-finally-from "tom", "radioman"
Been busy, busy, busy, tooo busy.

It was truly a pleasure to be with TT Parker Canyon 06 group on 3/10-3/12. More and more I seem to live just to disappear into the wilderness for a few days then reappear and go back to my other wonderful life. Thanks for making me and my son feel welcome and we will be with you again. All the posted photos are great. I brought my camera but never can seem to remember to use it much. Too short on time it seems. I did find my key, it was in my pocket. Yea, I know. Wife rescued me and it appeared in the washing machine later.
Supertroll, we must get together again, and thanks for your help contacting "lostsun" Friday night.

I will post more in the future, I promise.

Creek Dancer: your descriptive narrative of the hike in was great. Keep that stuff coming, you write well.

http://www.outdoorequipmentsupplier.com/ is where I got the MacCat tarp I used on this trip but it also is a custom job with a longer ridgeline

previously I used a standard 10x10 from Oware, http://www.owareusa.com/tarps.html

Campmor.....

SuperTroll - I thought I recognized yours while browsing Campmor but wanted to verify.

HOI - Which size MacCat was yours, standard or deluxe?

Thanks for the feedback all.

it's a custom MacCat - 160 inch ridgeline - Brian called it "Titan" - I wanted the extra coverage on the ridgeline so as to hang stuff like my pack, essentials bag, etc off the hammock support ropes and still have them covered from the rain

I use the Explorer Deluxe HH so either the standard or the deluxe Mac Cat really only covered the hammock with little extra on the ridgeline - I think you would be OK with either the standard or the deluxe MacCat unless like me you want to hang a lot of stuff on the hammock support ropes.
