Right? Ok ... will do.” 9:41:58 AM 11/14/05 “Sarge, I thought you died.” 9:51:48 AM 11/14/05 “ ![]() ”9:53:55 AM 11/14/05 “Nigal, That's some very suggestive imagery. You'd better be careful! last edited: 11/14/05 9:58:17 AM” 9:58:03 AM 11/14/05 “I'm heading for my Super Wal-Mart tonight. Time for food.” 10:00:23 AM 11/14/05 “I just picked up 2 packs of 5 pairs of boxer-briefs for like 8 bucks this weekend at our WalMart. Wearing them now. Mmmmm... Communist undies rule!” 10:02:58 AM 11/14/05 “I hate walmart... I try not to shop there, but can't help it...it's a love/hate relationship I guess. #&%!$...if somone gives me about $150 more a month to buy groceries at the local grocery store...I'll be more then willing to not shop at walmart ever again.” 10:04:56 AM 11/14/05 “Note that the first article linked to above just says an ancient table was uncovered on the site, not that Wal-Mart actually destroyed anything...” 10:19:14 AM 11/14/05 “nevermind...not worth it LOL last edited: 11/14/05 10:28:01 AM” 10:25:53 AM 11/14/05 “My mom makes sub sandwiches at WalMart for a living. She works nights so they will be ready the next day. It's a full time job. She gets a discount card which she lives on… buys everything 10% below what they cost at WalMart). She gets health benefits, and can purchase WalMart stock at a discount. She has worked there for many years and is going to be going to management training classes. Prior to this job she "job hopped" below the poverty line. After the job she seems to be doing very well. A lot of people demonize WalMart but I think it's because they are such a big and easy target. I would not be shocked if they deserved a lot of the criticism they get, but I don’t think it’s as bad as some would paint to be.” 10:28:33 AM 11/14/05 “Hey Sarge! You Backpack?” 10:29:21 AM 11/14/05 “refrigerator - Yes. Why? Do you need a hiking partner?” 10:33:46 AM 11/14/05 “I'm glad to see Sarge returned to the full vigor of health.” 11:01:05 AM 11/14/05 “It's a miracle!” 11:02:16 AM 11/14/05 “It's funny Dayhiker, whenever birch calls me on the phone I answer with, "Hi this is Nigal. I can't get to the phone right now as I am dead. Please leave a message after the beep. [BEEP!]".” 11:07:22 AM 11/14/05 “How do you answer when Jay calls?” 11:23:15 AM 11/14/05 Economy “Not taking sides I would post a few comments: 1) There many sides and views to anything as big as this issue; 2) Yes, there are issues more important than today's economy, but we can only handle them having strong economy; 3) None of us likes it, none of us wants to be a victim, but what we call greed and cruelty was always one of the major sources (if not the major source) of the overall economy success; 4) Millions of people cannot afford an alternative to Wal-Mart; 5) Would Wal-Mart go away, prices everywhere else will go up; 6) Many more points to either side ... last edited: 11/14/05 11:50:44 AM” 11:45:19 AM 11/14/05 “Its called capitalism, folks” 11:50:43 AM 11/14/05 “Sarge = Jesus?” 11:50:54 AM 11/14/05 “DDX - I started to go there, but chickened out. I was in Opelike and Smith Statio Friday. Not too far from your stomping grounds.” 11:51:58 AM 11/14/05 “... or Lazareth.” 11:56:59 AM 11/14/05 “Lazarus” 12:01:25 PM 11/14/05 “I haven't shopped at wal-mart in years. I won't cross picket lines either. Wal-mart has eroded workers rights and pay throughout retail. I support retailers that treat my neighbors as human beings, not troublesome elements of production. I can't convince my wife to stay away from the place though. last edited: 11/14/05 12:06:30 PM” 12:04:17 PM 11/14/05 “Lazarus Long, maybe.” 12:05:31 PM 11/14/05 “Buddha Bear's socialist extremism is disgusting. In the 1950's and 1960's Sam Walton worked at a five and dime. He built Wal-Mart by hard work and charging a fair price. Sam Walton's success is what burns Buddha's warped sensibilities. The success of the working man must be tempered by the profit of Union fat cats. Buddha's goose stepping facism is rife with ignorance, greed and jealousy.” 12:07:44 PM 11/14/05 “That's just not true Bacpac. The Wal-Mart of today is very different from what Sam Walton built.” 12:10:25 PM 11/14/05 “You know me DH... if there is a line of decency I will cross it eagerly! Hey... I was in Opelika on Friday too! :D” 12:11:32 PM 11/14/05 “Y2, You don't know what you are talking about. Wal-Mart is not evil it is successful. Making money is not evil.” 12:15:47 PM 11/14/05 “I can't convince my wife to stay away from the place though. last edited: 11/14/05 12:06:30 PM” VioLiN 12:04:17 PM 11/14/05 violin eats Wal-Mart food... violin eats Wal-Mart food... violin eats Wal-Mart food... I bet he wears Wal-Mart underwear too. LOL ;-)” 12:24:45 PM 11/14/05 “No, but they've introduced practices in the last few years that are monopolistic, bad for the community and for employees. They are using their size to drive out competition and engaging in policies, often illegal, such as off-the-clock working and using illegal immigrants, that give them an unfair advantage over others in the market. I'm not against success - saying I am is just a simplistic way to dismiss anything you disagree with - without looking at the issues involved. I'm in favor of success - and in most measures Walmart is the biggest success story in America. It's the world's biggest company - but it needs to play by the rules.” 12:28:06 PM 11/14/05 “I want to hear Y2 explain how Wal-Mart is not the same Wal-Mart that Sam Walton built. Let me get some popcorn, this should be good.” 12:29:05 PM 11/14/05 “The South Park episode on "Wallmart" was close to the mark.” 12:29:19 PM 11/14/05 “"Hey... I was in Opelika on Friday too! :D” DeoreDX 12:11:32 PM Hey... I was in Opelika on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday too, and DDX never replied to my email! :D LOL, I was doing 70+ mph on I-65, but I was there! ;-) last edited: 11/14/05 12:35:23 PM” 12:30:50 PM 11/14/05 “Hey pal! Using cartoons as source material in political debates is Geobeet's shtick. Back off.” 12:31:14 PM 11/14/05 Wal-Mart “Only folks that care are the rabid Union goons and the anti-capitalism loons.” 12:38:04 PM 11/14/05 “I like and dislike Wal Mart also. Wal Mart for a few yrs promoted American made products but it seems they don't anymore. I try to buy as many American made products as possible but it is getting harder to do. I hate buying items made in China. Some of their food prices are cheaper than Krogers some isn't. Last night I bought food at both places.” 12:40:22 PM 11/14/05 “Locally there is a scam where the local grocery stores charge $3-$3.50 for a gallon of milk. I can get a gallon of milk at Wal Mart or Sams for $1.98 a gallon. My kids drink milk constantly. It got so bad that they did a study to determine if the grocery stores were engaged in price fixing. The claim is that they did an investigation and found this was not the case. They may not have directly fixed prices but if competition was in place I see no reason why their milk should be $1-$1.50 more per gallon that Sams or WalMart. Milk I buy in Wisconsin is more to the WalMart/Sams end of cost rather than in Chicago where it's absurd. So I get Milk at WalMart or CostCo (turns out CostCo is about the same price) and most everything else at Cost Co or my local grocery store. http://www.econgroup.com/news_view.asp?newid=2&pageno=1” 12:45:46 PM 11/14/05 “Bacpac - well the made in America campaign that Sam himself launched in the 80s for a start. The words of Sam that Walmart workers didn't need a union. Lets look at the cases where they apparently do.” 12:50:30 PM 11/14/05 “Why the name change, pitts?” 12:52:01 PM 11/14/05 “Ya gotta love all the right wingers who slam folks for being on welfare, and want them all kicked off because "it's my tax dollar! (whaaaaa)", yet, confronted with a company that is the source of a huge tax burden on our communities due to thier practices, all they can say is..."Uh, Wal-Mart is American, commie..." Congrats on reading the material, and developing an intelligent opinion. Be sure to buy an American Flag shirt at Wal-Mart the next time you shop there. The $5.00 you pay for it will be two weeks pay for the Communist Chinese kid who made it for you. :)” 1:41:49 PM 11/14/05 “"source of a huge tax burdon on our communities" That's classic.” 1:43:45 PM 11/14/05 “just for fun. my old name was kinda boring i thought” 1:43:46 PM 11/14/05 “it was the pitts ...” 1:44:07 PM 11/14/05 “Serious question BB. Assuming all the allegations are true and Wal-Mart is the retail face of evil then who is the retail face of virtue? What efforts have been made to identify the retail chains that people should give their business to?” 2:11:27 PM 11/14/05 “Well, HPM, I guess you'd have to do your own research into what is virtuous for you. Personally, I shop and mom & pop shops (you know, the small business that actually pay taxes, pay thier employees well, etc) and union stores as much as possible. If I absolutely have to shop at a big box, and can't find the item I need at a mom and pop, I wait until they offer the product as a loss leader, so they don't profit off me. HPM - Check out that Wal-Mart flick. You'll see how much the products you buy at WalMart actually cost you. last edited: 11/14/05 2:22:47 PM” 2:19:37 PM 11/14/05 “clever non-answer.” 2:34:24 PM 11/14/05 “I buy my frozen veggies from Market Day and my popcorn from the Cub Scouts. Who cares that I pay 3x what the products cost elsewhere. I get that warm feeling knowing I am supporting a good cause.” 2:36:23 PM 11/14/05 ““Hey pal! Using cartoons as source material in political debates is Geobeet's shtick. Back off.” NigalGizzardGobbler Damn straight. And using photos is Nigal's schtick!” 2:38:05 PM 11/14/05 the retail face of virtue? “Any good Union company of course!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL” 2:43:10 PM 11/14/05 Jump to Page |  1 | 2
