Often I'm surprised and how much they have. Besides, WallMart's customer service is crap and traditionally they have treated their employees the same way. Why support that?”

“Walmart customer service is not crap. I have never had a problem working with a Walmart employee. Their return guarantee is better than REI's (which many here swoon over and say its why REI is so great). If you don't like what you bought, bring it back to Walmart and the employees don't give you a hard time about it. Some are not as knowledgeable about the products they sell but they know where it is in the store. Which is fine by me because I can do my own research I just want them to help me find it.

The main thing about Walmart is that most of their employees are not very well educated. So if you are expecting a well informed knowledgeable sales force then you are in the wrong place. You need to pay more at another store to get that. Its not what walmart is for.”

my mom works at walmart and she is generally well treated. she has worked there for 5 years and if they can put up with all the cr*p i know she dishes out they are ok in my book. i agree that walmart has a good return policy and i have never had a problem. she has been a cashier, stocker, made sandwiches in the deli, worked all hours... she even was in a "set up crew" that builds the inside of new stores. i would think of her as almost unemployable but somehow walmart always finds a place for her. recently she decided to move across the country and they gave her a job in another store...no hassles... and didn't even cut her pay. they recognized her "seniority" (from a really basic job). i don't have that flexibility in my job...

i had to work with the corporate staff on project once. i was staying in a local hilton, my own room. the team from walmart was staying in an economy hotel and they shared rooms. i am sorry, but those guys from their corporate offices walked the walk. in many ways i wish more of corporate america was as responsible with their shareholders money.

i have heard all the stories about how walmart is evil, but in my life from what i have seen it just doesn't add up. all i see is a great big target (no pun intended) for a lot of people to bp&m about.”

“My biggest complaint about Walmart is the stank that is produces by their cafe area. Yikes! We have a new Super Walmart close by that reaks up near this area. If you are in the opposite corner of the store, it doesn't smell yet, but give it time for the funk grow.

The law firm I was previously at did a lot of work for them. As an accountant/collections, I hated them. Their terms for payment of legal invoices was 120 days and that is when they would first look at the bill. You generally did not get payment until after 180 days. This is one of the reasons they are so profitable. They are the only retailer in the world that can get away with this.”

BULL#&%!$. Abby got a piece of crap spaghetti string taffeta and velvet dress for her birthday in January from her aunt who lives in FL (Helllllo...it's cold in Michigan in winter!). It had the wallmart tag on it. All I wanted to do was exchange it for something she could wear. The Customer service lady scanned the tag (that clearly said Wallmart) and said "oh it's not in our system, you'll need a receipt"....even to simply exchange the item. Called the Aunt and she mailed up the receipt, price the exact same as on the tag. Took the dress back and magically it was in the system. That place sucks and so does their customer service.”

“the problem was that that particular dress was not carried in that particular walmart. and without the receipt you cannot return the item. it's that simple. it's that way in any retail store. she's not being a #&%!$, she's quoting store policy. get over it. stores get scammed millions of times everyday by people who steal from one store and return it to another. of course it's not you, but they don't know you; do they? god, this was why i hated retail, customers taking policy personally.

six weeks ago i bought a frying pan in a walmart cross town. i lost the receipt. my own fault. i attempted to return it to a walmart close to where i work and they didn't carry the pan. did i #&%!$ about it? no. when i finally did return it, i did so at a loss because it had been on sale within the last 90 days. again, my own fault. so i didn't #&%!$ at that poor cashier either. that'll teach me to hang on to those receipts.”

And she didn't take the time to explain what store policy was, just kept on telling me that Wallmart doesn't sell the item. What I took personally was the woman's crappy service, not the store policy. I told the situation because their return policy is SOOOOO not better than REI's, as Hyway thinks. Maybe your wallmarts are better than mine but every time I've gone in to mine at the new and old locations it has been a hassle to check out, a hassle to get help finding something or getting something from a case and impossible to get good customer service. And frankly, your post kinda pissed me off. "Get over it"?! I am over it and I don't shop there so I don't have to mess with crap like that again. You sound just a bit bitter and jaded. Maybe you need to realize that not all customers are rude and impatient. I don't speak to store clerks in derogatory tones, am patient and understanding to a fault. I have worked customer service too and I remember how I liked to be treated and how I treated customers.”

“sass, I know that post was directed at dizzy, but did you ever ask to see the supervisor? I don't see if you answered that. I feel sorry for your troubles with your walmart. I have been in many walmarts - there are 8 of them with a 50 mile radius - from all over the southeast - Atlanta, Virginia, mountains of NC, the carolina coast, etc and never had any experiences that were overly bad. Maybe its just a regional thing where people enjoy their walmart jobs and give decent service.

I do agree that the checkout lines are long at times, but that's more because they hire the semi literate (that are nearly unemployable elsewhere) who are very slow at what they do. Sometimes i wonder if it would be better to have fewer, but smarter, check out clerks, than twice as many clueless ones.”

when i was cleaning out my desk drawers during the move i was throwing out receipts from Birthdays, Easters and Christmas' that were seven years old! i keep receipts in my truck in an envelope for a while in case things have to be returned, eventually they are moved to my desk. i don't know how that one for the frying pan was lost, but i'm sure it was my fault.

“It should be the person who asks for the poor to pay more for their purchases. I don't begrudge anyone to shop where they want. I am not the one who wants to protect Union jobs. I have no problem with someone working for as much as they can get nor do I have a problem with someone buying for as low as they can get. maybe it should be someone who calls for CEO's to take a pay cut or someone who claims junk bond dealers make too much money. Do you know any groups of people that make claims like that. maybe those people should take less pay to support their principles.”
