LOL” 11:13:58 AM 5/17/09 “What offshoring interests don't seem to consider is, who's going to be left to keep their consumer-driven economy going? That's someone else's problem.” 11:22:28 AM 5/17/09 “Here in CA it's funny how everybody talks about how WalMart is evil, but it's always packed. I'm always amazed how those who say Walmart is evil generally make fun of the "trashy" people who do choose to shop there. It's a hard trick to pull off hating those above them (evil corporations) while equally hating those below them (white trash Walmart shoppers). Ah the pitfalls of perfection! Must be a real bytch. Basically we have to realize we are a part of the rest of the world. It is a global market and we have to compete in it. We will take our natural place in the global market based on our own efforts.” 11:25:17 AM 5/17/09 “Reality is a butch................lots of people must shop cheap. Americans still need jobs, though, to keep that retail juggernaut in motion.” 11:35:47 AM 5/17/09 “I remember when supporting American manufacturing was desirible. Now the 'business friendly' interests work night and day to discredit it. And to go further into debt to China to finance it all? It's insane.” 12:16:22 PM 5/17/09 “Part of GM's tentative "plan" to save itself was to import cars from China putting more Americans out of work. Such imagination...........” 12:40:15 PM 5/17/09 “we could make it all better. we could nuke china. then walmart would have to buy things made in america.” 2:38:09 PM 5/17/09 “What's this "we" stuff?? Nuking millions of people is not a good idea.” 3:51:48 PM 5/17/09 “Losers hate winners.” 4:27:54 PM 5/17/09 “RTB/NFA -- Reason-to-Believe/No Further Action: While the Commission (FEC) may find reason to believe that a violation has occurred or is about to occur, it may nevertheless decide to exercise its prosecutorial discretion to take no further action. http://eqs.nictusa.com/eqs/terms.html” 5:05:10 PM 5/17/09 “well until americans figure out a way to make cheaper stuff than china does... walmart is gonna buy their stuff there, and so is just about every other store...” 11:09:10 PM 5/17/09 “well until americans figure out a way to make cheaper stuff than china does... walmart is gonna buy their stuff there, and so is just about every other store... Exactly. It's not like Walmart is selling China made stuff and this store over here is selling all American made. It's nothing more than anti-capitalism bullcrap. This is why Lee Iacoca said, "Lead, Follow or Get out of the way.". He didn't say, "Lead, Follow or just stand there and bytch." If America wants to compete in the global market it simply needs to get busy and do it. Sadly that can't be done with the second highest corporate tax rate in the world.” 2:46:33 AM 5/18/09 “No it's not like that, but Target and Meijer do sell quite a bit of merchandise made in the USA (and other parts of the world), and I choose to shop there on the off chance that there is a choice made in the USA. Often I'm surprised and how much they have. Besides, WallMart's customer service is crap and traditionally they have treated their employees the same way. Why support that?” 5:24:52 AM 5/18/09 “"This is why Lee Iacoca said, "Lead, Follow or Get out of the way." Was that not George Patton?” 5:55:56 AM 5/18/09 “Walmart customer service is not crap. I have never had a problem working with a Walmart employee. Their return guarantee is better than REI's (which many here swoon over and say its why REI is so great). If you don't like what you bought, bring it back to Walmart and the employees don't give you a hard time about it. Some are not as knowledgeable about the products they sell but they know where it is in the store. Which is fine by me because I can do my own research I just want them to help me find it. The main thing about Walmart is that most of their employees are not very well educated. So if you are expecting a well informed knowledgeable sales force then you are in the wrong place. You need to pay more at another store to get that. Its not what walmart is for.” 6:23:49 AM 5/18/09 “i don't have a lot of insight into walmart but i will say this... my mom works at walmart and she is generally well treated. she has worked there for 5 years and if they can put up with all the cr*p i know she dishes out they are ok in my book. i agree that walmart has a good return policy and i have never had a problem. she has been a cashier, stocker, made sandwiches in the deli, worked all hours... she even was in a "set up crew" that builds the inside of new stores. i would think of her as almost unemployable but somehow walmart always finds a place for her. recently she decided to move across the country and they gave her a job in another store...no hassles... and didn't even cut her pay. they recognized her "seniority" (from a really basic job). i don't have that flexibility in my job... i had to work with the corporate staff on project once. i was staying in a local hilton, my own room. the team from walmart was staying in an economy hotel and they shared rooms. i am sorry, but those guys from their corporate offices walked the walk. in many ways i wish more of corporate america was as responsible with their shareholders money. i have heard all the stories about how walmart is evil, but in my life from what i have seen it just doesn't add up. all i see is a great big target (no pun intended) for a lot of people to bp&m about.” 7:15:04 AM 5/18/09 8:24:16 AM 5/18/09 “T*lt has prenty of ignorance” 9:18:08 AM 5/18/09 “see yogisan, your personal experiences with Walmart mean nothing. It only has truth if you can site a link to a walmart hater site.” 9:26:59 AM 5/18/09 “Your willful ignorance is simply stupidity.” 9:31:37 AM 5/18/09 “my first person knowledge of the people that work there and my 1st person experience with shopping there are good enough for me. Why don't you actually talk to these people who are so beneath you and ask them if they are happy for a job.” 9:38:31 AM 5/18/09 “My biggest complaint about Walmart is the stank that is produces by their cafe area. Yikes! We have a new Super Walmart close by that reaks up near this area. If you are in the opposite corner of the store, it doesn't smell yet, but give it time for the funk grow. The law firm I was previously at did a lot of work for them. As an accountant/collections, I hated them. Their terms for payment of legal invoices was 120 days and that is when they would first look at the bill. You generally did not get payment until after 180 days. This is one of the reasons they are so profitable. They are the only retailer in the world that can get away with this.” 9:43:04 AM 5/18/09 “Even HyWay visits the plantation now and again.” 9:43:12 AM 5/18/09 “The basics haven't changed. The tech bubble was nonsensical ---- the people selling it said that fundamental business principles no longer applied. Financial interests selling derivatives used the same line. Wildly overpriced real estate.... no problem. When they start saying that 2+2 no longer equals 4, keep your hand on your wallet. Our trade relationship with China is similar to what the British had with India…. and we’re the colony. What could possibly go wrong? Better hope our new bankers don't decide to call in their loans ---- ” 9:55:49 AM 5/18/09 “I know quite a few people who work there or have worked there and they don't have any complaints. Is it where they want to see themselves five years from now? Probably not but they are more than happy just to be working.” 10:29:57 AM 5/18/09 “George Carlin had something to say about being "more than happy".” 10:53:07 AM 5/18/09 12:31:08 PM 5/18/09 “"Their return guarantee is better than REI's (which many here swoon over and say its why REI is so great). If you don't like what you bought, bring it back to Walmart and the employees don't give you a hard time about it." BULL#&%!$. Abby got a piece of crap spaghetti string taffeta and velvet dress for her birthday in January from her aunt who lives in FL (Helllllo...it's cold in Michigan in winter!). It had the wallmart tag on it. All I wanted to do was exchange it for something she could wear. The Customer service lady scanned the tag (that clearly said Wallmart) and said "oh it's not in our system, you'll need a receipt"....even to simply exchange the item. Called the Aunt and she mailed up the receipt, price the exact same as on the tag. Took the dress back and magically it was in the system. That place sucks and so does their customer service.” 1:33:42 PM 5/18/09 “i sympathize with your story. i don't think they have a "better than rei" policy. that said, i think it's important to remember that while you are a good and honest person many are not. i know you would never buy something at one walmart on sale and then take it back to a different walmart claiming you lost the receipt and that you paid the full price on the tag. people are scamming that place all the time, especially the store employees.” 2:29:36 PM 5/18/09 “I didn't care how much store credit they gave me for the stupid thing, I just wanted her to be able to get something she could use; even if it was a pair of socks for $1. The problem was the clerk insisted it wasn't something Wallmart sold, when the tag clearly said Wallmart.” 3:37:24 PM 5/18/09 “honestly, "spaghetti string taffeta and velvet dress" truly doesn't sound like her to me...” 3:48:55 PM 5/18/09 “the problem was that that particular dress was not carried in that particular walmart. and without the receipt you cannot return the item. it's that simple. it's that way in any retail store. she's not being a #&%!$, she's quoting store policy. get over it. stores get scammed millions of times everyday by people who steal from one store and return it to another. of course it's not you, but they don't know you; do they? god, this was why i hated retail, customers taking policy personally. six weeks ago i bought a frying pan in a walmart cross town. i lost the receipt. my own fault. i attempted to return it to a walmart close to where i work and they didn't carry the pan. did i #&%!$ about it? no. when i finally did return it, i did so at a loss because it had been on sale within the last 90 days. again, my own fault. so i didn't #&%!$ at that poor cashier either. that'll teach me to hang on to those receipts.” 12:21:04 AM 5/19/09 “one person does not make a store's entire policy. Did you ask for the supervisor? The only time I have had any difficulty with walmart was when I wanted cash back for an item. They wanted to give me store credit, but one chat with the supervisor and I had my cash. The problem with Chinese products coming to the US doesn't start and stop with Walmart. They are not the only store selling the products. I'd be happy to only buy American if American products weren't so overpriced. People like Tilt want the poor to pay more for their purchases, instead of asking workers to take less for their labor.” 6:05:06 AM 5/19/09 “Some walmart stores have shrimp, salmon, multiple salad mixes in their grocery. NGB and I noticed last night the WalMart in Senatobia, MS stocks up on collard greens and smoked ham hocks.” 7:13:48 AM 5/19/09 “Just got back from the uber Walmart over in Denver... quite the selection of "alternative" meat cuts, most of them not listed in English, either. I actually couldn't go through the produce aisle, because of 8 ft. stacks of banana, corn on the cob and onion cases all over the place.” 7:33:41 AM 5/19/09 “People like Hyway don't give a #&%!$ about Americans losing their jobs.” 7:47:33 AM 5/19/09 “Pamela, you weren't there to hear how the clerk spoke to me or what she said. She was being a b!tch. And she didn't take the time to explain what store policy was, just kept on telling me that Wallmart doesn't sell the item. What I took personally was the woman's crappy service, not the store policy. I told the situation because their return policy is SOOOOO not better than REI's, as Hyway thinks. Maybe your wallmarts are better than mine but every time I've gone in to mine at the new and old locations it has been a hassle to check out, a hassle to get help finding something or getting something from a case and impossible to get good customer service. And frankly, your post kinda pissed me off. "Get over it"?! I am over it and I don't shop there so I don't have to mess with crap like that again. You sound just a bit bitter and jaded. Maybe you need to realize that not all customers are rude and impatient. I don't speak to store clerks in derogatory tones, am patient and understanding to a fault. I have worked customer service too and I remember how I liked to be treated and how I treated customers.” 8:08:43 AM 5/19/09 “Man, you're so put upon!” 8:13:05 AM 5/19/09 “Note to self; never tell sass NO teehee...j/k I think that the lack of good customer service is my biggest pet peeve I have been employee of the month three different times :) cause I rock like that!” 8:22:04 AM 5/19/09 “sass, I know that post was directed at dizzy, but did you ever ask to see the supervisor? I don't see if you answered that. I feel sorry for your troubles with your walmart. I have been in many walmarts - there are 8 of them with a 50 mile radius - from all over the southeast - Atlanta, Virginia, mountains of NC, the carolina coast, etc and never had any experiences that were overly bad. Maybe its just a regional thing where people enjoy their walmart jobs and give decent service. I do agree that the checkout lines are long at times, but that's more because they hire the semi literate (that are nearly unemployable elsewhere) who are very slow at what they do. Sometimes i wonder if it would be better to have fewer, but smarter, check out clerks, than twice as many clueless ones.” 10:00:05 AM 5/19/09 “I was working with the manager. I guess I could have spoken to the store manager but that seemed like overkill. I did get store credit eventually, it just took a few weeks to get the receipt from SIL.” 10:08:57 AM 5/19/09 “8 of them with a 50 mile radius no way? we have none near us within 50 miles (at least not in NY) we have to go into NJ to go to one. so we really don't shop at walmart all that often. kinda wish we did, they have some great cheap stuff :)” 10:11:08 AM 5/19/09 “Sass, the 'get over it' wasn't directed at you, it was directed at all the customers i have ever had who #&%!$ed at me for their mistakes. all the customers who couldn't be bothered to hang on to their receipts. it's completely understandable that you wouldn't have your receipt since it was an out of state gift. when i was cleaning out my desk drawers during the move i was throwing out receipts from Birthdays, Easters and Christmas' that were seven years old! i keep receipts in my truck in an envelope for a while in case things have to be returned, eventually they are moved to my desk. i don't know how that one for the frying pan was lost, but i'm sure it was my fault. i'm sorry you got a bad cashier. i guess i've never got one at walmart. i find when i get a snooty cashier, it's in a snooty store.” 10:16:33 AM 5/19/09 “always ask for the manager, they have the power to say yes that they don't give to cashiers! sometimes i wanted to say yes and i had to go to my manager and ask him/her.” 10:26:36 AM 5/19/09 “Their prices aren't necessarily the cheapest (that's just their advertising). They're experts at bait-and-switch. Sure, there might be a microwave oven advertised for $40, but when people who come in expecting to get one that day see the actual item and realise it's a POS, the next cheapest microwave is NOT at the lowest price around. They say #&%!$it and wind up with overpriced merchandise. At least that's what the Walmart store manager said.” 11:03:16 AM 5/19/09 “I was working with the manager Bullsh|t At least that's what the Walmart store manager said. Bullsh|t” 11:09:48 AM 5/19/09 “People like Tilt want the poor to pay more for their purchases, instead of asking workers to take less for their labor.” hyway 7:05:06 AM 5/19/09 Who here is going to be the first to volunteer to "take less for their labor"?” 11:19:33 AM 5/19/09 “It should be the person who asks for the poor to pay more for their purchases. I don't begrudge anyone to shop where they want. I am not the one who wants to protect Union jobs. I have no problem with someone working for as much as they can get nor do I have a problem with someone buying for as low as they can get. maybe it should be someone who calls for CEO's to take a pay cut or someone who claims junk bond dealers make too much money. Do you know any groups of people that make claims like that. maybe those people should take less pay to support their principles.” 11:29:34 AM 5/19/09 “I shop at the Dollar Store, that way I don't have to get dressed up like I do when shopping at walmart.” 12:52:52 PM 5/19/09 “LMAO @ chuck (hey stranger) I heart $ stores...” 12:58:58 PM 5/19/09 Jump to Page << prev
