I just read in our towns newspaper that we'll have a new Wall Mart built just three miles away from the other HUGE brand new Wall Mart. Lovely.

They leave a trail of those huge empty buildings as they move across the landscape....   Perfect for call centers.

I’ve gone back and read the arguments surrounding granting China permanent MFN status and it seems yet another case of something that was easily predicted. The ‘free trade’ (ha ha) pro-globalization people’s reasoning has proved to be critically flawed, whereas the “protectionists’” "anti-business" predictions seriously underestimated the effects. Now China has to continue to buy our treasuries so we can service the debt we have with Them and to fuel the ever-increasing trade deficit.   Considering the situation we're in, I find it difficult to wrap my mind around the fact that it's been less than ten years.   Where will we be in another ten?

Remember when you heard that real estate values were unsustainable ----

Sass..
You must live near me..

They are building a Superwalmart 1 mile fromm me that is 4 miles closer then the one that is 5 miles away from me..

Good news in that a Dicks and a JC Penney are also going in there, as well as an Olive Garden and a Lone Star and a.. and a...

oh and road construction and 3 new stop lights, and 4 new traffic lanes, and a lot few trees...

...........oh and a helluva lot more traffic on a road that is already congested...

On the bright side I will get to mingle with all of the TT'ers that shop there!!!!!!!!!

Jilted customer starts fire in Manatee Wal-Mart

A man who was angry he was not allowed to return items to a local Wal-Mart went to the men’s department and set three racks of clothes ablaze, according to a Manatee Sheriff’s report.

The fire ruined thousands of dollars of merchandise and caused extensive damage to the store in the 2900 block of 53rd Avenue East in East Manatee County around 4 p.m. Thursday.

After the fire was discovered, employees saw a man flee the store in a tan pick-up, and other Wal-Mart stores in the area were notified to watch out for him.

Two hours later, deputies were called to the Wal-Mart near Lockwood Ridge Road and University Parkway, where they arrested a man who fit the arsonist’s description.

holy christ, I've never seen more morbidly obese people gathered in a single building that wasn't crowned with the golden arches than I saw walking into Wal Mart this last Sunday. I can only imagine the aisles clotted with that sweaty, heavy-breathing throng, munching on french fries from the built-in food court.

That alone should be enough reason not to shop there

actually, the Wal Mart out here is on the trashier side of town... lot of muffin tops, missing teeth, tattoes, and facial piercings there (and that's just the employees, zing!)... not that my town really has a "nice" area, but Target, on the other end of town, seems to draw a much classier clientele, in general

LOL Peps

I look a little squat....I'm short and built wide. I went into REI a few years back to buy a down winter bag. I don't like a lot of space in the bottom of my bag so I was looking for a short. The salesperson took a look at me and asked if I wouldn't want another bag. I asked for a different sales person. The bag fits perfectly, FYI and it's my favorite bag.

Pepsi, I don't know I have seen some of the "shuffle faster" crowd at some REI's.

Heck saw a couple with their to (9 to 12) ish looking daughters in tube tops and what I can only pray were "fake" tail tats...granted they got in a car with a California tag but still trash really has no stopping point.

hey, I'm fine with people having different body types, and I understand that it's pretty unrealistic to expect everyone to look like the people on TV... but when you see a pair of 400lb parents towing around a 200lb 10 year-old, all carrying matching chocolate shakes... well, let's just say it's not the best sight in the world

I see lots of tattoos and "muffin tops" in my university library.

Some of the girls come draggin' in here in L.L. Bean pajama pants and fuzzy slippers.

There are boys wearing "girl pants" as well.
Those pants are like a cheap hotel...............no ball room.

At least it doesn't smell like Walmart here.

ROTFLMAO....Chili....while I would NEVER require laws on WHAT people can wear. I think good judgement should limit the sizes certain things are made in.

watched a 350lb woman in a pair of the spandex bicycle pants and a sport bra going into a grocery store one day.

What is the tensile strength of spandex?

one time I saw a good 500 pound dude in one of those little rascal electric wheelchair-scooter things wearing shorts that were WAY too short...

"how short?" you ask?

his balls were hanging out. Literally.

campmor has their own brand that is pretty cheap for fleece/polarguard. the stuff is so ubiquitous, that you can find it at thrift stores pretty regularly.

WHats that one urban legend about the couple whose care breaks down at the store. The wife goes in to shop and upon returning finds a pair of legs in shorts sticking out from under the car. She notices that the guy's "little buddies" are visible so she calmly tucks them back in.....Only to find out its a mechanic not her husband.

sorry, I understand being "big boned" or having a glandular thing, but there's a big difference between that and just being lazy and fat. There's no reason a 10 year old kid should weigh 200+ lbs except poor parenting, and these obese parents with obese kids filing into Wal Mart are, at the least, not adding to the company's image

You're right. It's probably not the best form to make fun of people (though I do it all the time), but I try to refrain from comments about that which people cannot change, i.e. age, race, height, and lack of hair etc. That may be because I am short, old, white and bald. Fat people can change.
