Treebait, it's not the kid I am worried about, it's the dog.

Let's just say that she is very protective of Barbie.

I kinda like this thread. But I am wondering where I fit in. It's not here, though I identify with you old happily married farts for sure. And it's not on the singles thread or the dating sucks thread. Do we have a "TTers Happy in a LTR" thread?

Happily married for almost 32 years here.

Starting the "empty nest" thing now. Our oldest two children have recently moved out of the area...5 and 6 hour drives to where they live. I miss them a lot. #3 is talking about moving out also. She would like to move out of the area. Southern California is expensive. #4 will be at home for a while.

We spent so much time devoted to raising our kids we are trying to make sure we have things to do together as we transition. We took swing dance lessons for 4 years and enjoyed that, but my wife is having foot problems. Hope to dance again in the future. We found we like to travel together. Went to Europe last year and had a blast.

Not that we are trying to rush anything, but I think we will be good grandparents and that will mean a lot to us.

Congrats Phil. It's been funny seeing how different my folks and in-laws are as grandparents. Almost a total personality change. My dad is like a kid in a candy store. My in-laws were very strict and demanding with their kids. Now it's, "Nana will buy you anything you want."

Happily married to HS sweetheart for over 11 years now. We've been together for almost 17 years. Things couldn't be better.

Congrats Sacco! I've been married 15 years. Its important to leave the door open. That way you never forget that a) you both do it, b)it smells the same. and c)thank God every now and then you get to go out and do it like the bears do.

We got married at 23 young for our generation, I think the average is up to 27 or 28 now. We were talking about a neighbor of ours (whoshubby died during their 47th year of marriage) and realized that if we simply live to 73 we will have 50 years together. I am hoping we hit 83 myself.

I know a very old couple. They met as kids, age3 or 4. On their fridge is a pic of them with a slew of trout they caught. They were 5 in the pic. If my math is right they are both mid 80's now. They/ve been married over 60 years. They are awesome!

Been close friends with my wife for over 17 years, together 12 years and married 9. Best thing that ever happened.
