I like peanut butter and grape jelly sandwiches. So, how do I pack the grape jelly to keep it from freezing during winter backpacking trips?

I put a jar of peanut butter and a jar of grape jelly in the freezer a couple of hours ago. Just testing them. Neither one is frozen, but they do not spread very easily on the bread. The sandwich tastes great. I'm going to return the peanut butter and jelly to the freezer for the night. This may be a great idea for warm, Florida weather.

How about making the sandwiches ahead of time and freezing them. If it's going to be that cold anyway, they should keep their shape for you until you eat them. Maybe you could put them in an inner pocket half an hour before you eat it to warm it up a bit.

Hey, don't they make pre-made and pre-frozen Peanut Butter & Grape Jelly sandwiches?

They're called Smuckers "uncrustables"....

get the premeasured jelly packets like you get in the restaraunts, some stores carry them or get them online from places like minimus.easier to pack, and no mess.

I dont know if you all have a Wawa , but WaWa's has the best condiment bar. They have a variety of jelly packets, not the tubs but like Mayo or ketchup packets. plus brown mustard, mayo that hasn't be fridged yet and a plethora of other stuff. Check them out

Finding good condiments in packets is the best!!! I know that if I go to Panera Bread for a sandwich to grab a handful of the brown mustard packets (Guildens?). At some Subways I can get lemon juice packets (for making Prosecutor's crab cakes). I grabbed a bunch of chopped onion the other day from somewhere. Should work well for cooking.

I think either Sam's Club or Costco has packs of sauerkraut--in their condiments for the hot dogs they serve.

Just made a sandwich. Yummy! The peanut butter was hard, I guess frozen. The grape jelly did not freeze. The jelly is cold in my mouth, but the peanut butter seems warm! So there you have it.
