“In regards to both knees being replaced - most surgeons will do it but sometimes you have to hassle them. They don't like to because:
1. It's more dangerous (longer OR time, more blood loss, longer anesthesia, etc). If you're in reasonable good shape (and I'm sure you are if you're on here), you'll probably be fine. You'll have to be cleared by your primary doctor first.
2. Surgeons make less if they do both knees at the same time. Let's say they bill $3000 for one side, they can only bill $1500 for the other side. As opposed to doing them separately, they can bill $3000 for each.

My doctor cleared me for MSM. She does not expect any effectiveness studies to be done with it, since they are usually performed by the Drug Companies. There is no potential or substancial profit in it for them to bother. But she, too, has had some good reports from some patients. So right now I'm waiting for your words of wisdom before I take the plunge.

Oh, my doctor has for the first time referred to this as an arthritis. It must be osteoarthritis. It is quite extensive according to her, which must have been her reason for granting a Disabled Parking Permit.”

Unbeknownst to me I missed 3 days of pills after taking them for at least 2 weeks and on the second day my knees were hurting and I thought to myself this stuff doesn't work only to find out I hadn't been taking them for the 3 days. I started taking the pills again and the pain went away again. I can only conclude it works for me.

“hey nowslimmer, yes it seems to be working for me also, i'm taking 1500mg per day. i also have arthritis. it's cheap so i am going to stay on it for a while. i had my 5th and final injections this past wednesday and there is some improvement but nothing close to 100%. maybe40%. i'll keep you updated and really hope to see the both of you in appalachacloa for a shortened hike.
