Ruby posted a great crock pot stuffing recipe on the recipe sharing thread.

I make candied sweet potatoes, but I am sure you could find dozens of recipes just by googling "sweet potato pie recipe". I always have good luck with allrecipes.com

Lucky

I have to go through nearly a week of the evil side of relativity with no escape and no blowing up at people. Glad I got myself something really nice for my birthday last week. If I can somewhat gracefully get through this then I've earned that damned necklace.

i heat up the yams separately and pour off the juice

i make this concoction (in a sause pan on simmer on the stove) of orange juice about a cup i think, brown sugar, and a whole stick of butter. i add salt until it tastes good.

basically i add everything until it tastes good. when it does i add it to 3 29oz can of yams. i think. was it four cans?

holy cow, i never measure anything in this recipe.

anyway, i mash it all up until it's nice and creamy. i might add in more salt and butter if it needs the flavor, or i might let guests do that for themselves.

my husband said not to tell you, that this should be a family secret because it's so especially good. no one in his family makes anything like it. he says that his family does weird stuff like put marshmellows in it.

shhhhhhhhhh!

delightful deviled eggs
I'm not sure if the family thinks it is a safe thing or they really like my deviled eggs but that is my assigned dish...along with the sweet potato casserol.

I've just about perfected the deviled eggs...I put the yolks in the food processor (cooked of course) and chop them finely. Then mix the mayo..mustard etc in. Spoon into a baggie and snip out a corner...squeeze in the filling into the awaiting eggs...and ta da!!! They look like gourmet deviled eggs!!

Pam...I used to hate to make them because they can be so messy but last year I had an ah ha moment and started using the baggie thing...and food processor...I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner!

So is there a special Thanksgiving food that is traditional in CA?
