What is your best Thanksgiving hike or BP trip?
Or maybe it BECAME your best memory even if it was not your best experience...??

Mine was in the Chiracauhua(sp?) Mtns some years ago on an overcast thanksgiving day.
It started out as a simple AND Short stroll and ended up with Oreos for thanksgiving dinner in the snow, making tracks with "in- camp" shoes... like today's running shoes... I forgot the name. Certainly NOT designed for a VERY long all day trip through the magnificent and increasingly snowy mountains.. . and we did forget to sign out at the trail register, cuz it was going to be such a short stroll. Thankful for the one bottle of water, granola bar and 1/2 pack of oreos in one vest pocket. Thankful for finding out CORRECT path before Geronimo found US and before the snow and darkness overcame us.

I thought the best hikes were from the buffet table to the dinner table... :-)

It was in the early sun on the wooded lot next to my house chasing the dog. It was so beautiful that I felt very thankful.

Other than that, it's from the dinner table to the living room to watch the Cowboy game.

I'll probably never have a good backpacking trip for Thanksgiving - I've got too much family.

pink you may be right about that. i recall being stunned the year my brother went rabbit hunting right after thanksgiving dinner.

that year... we were far far away from our families and made a memorable day... anyhow. this year... we are each with our families...
and remembering the cold and the oreos.
