Burlington Trip Report

“On Saturday Laurie (filtergirl) and I headed down to Burlington Iowa which is a medium sized town in Iowa along the Mississippi. I had just moved to Burlington a month ago due to taking a new job with Case. So back to the report. On Saturday while Laurie and I were cleaning my apartment she had overheard on the radio that Burlington was having a lighted Holiday Parade. Well as it just so happens the weather was warmer than usual so we both agreed it would be a great way to spend our evening.
We went down to the parade and have a fun time watching all the floats go by. After the parade was over we stopped at a quick shop for a cup of hot coco and took a walk around downtown (Burlington has a very historic picturesque downtown). After walking for 30-40 min we found ourselves down by the Mississippi. I grabbed Laurie by the arm and spun her around. I next got down on one knee and she began to laugh, thinking I was going to start singing to her. Well she was wrong I wasn't going to sing but I did open up a small box with an engagement ring in it and asked her if she would marry me!! She fell to her knees in tears and said yes. (the rest of the details I'll keep for myself)
After sharing the moment we headed over the the Drake (a nice restaurant) to share a bottle of wine a appetizer and desert. We are looking to a Fall wedding and have allot of planning ahead of us but wanted to share with you the news.
In the years ahead we both look forward to meeting more of you on the trail.

Guess I really truly better post that YRSF trip report and PHOTOS so everyone can see you guys, the cool couple! (And see how sickeningly sweet you two were feeding each other Mountain House meals. LOL!)
