“well i started last monday painting the house. we rented a 33ft cherry picker machine thing casuse we have a 3 story house. it seems like it will never end. we had to dig up the landscaping on one side of the houw, 5 ft set backs and against a brick wall. the other side is city property and we wacked down some of the sea grapes and filled in some holes and put down some plywood to drive this machine on. it really is fun to go up and dow and spine it around when you are up 33ft. rained out today and tomorrow so i will head to ocala to help the cousin paint the inside of her new house. will be there for 2-3 days and come back friday to p[aint through the week-end. the knees are killing me and the hand are suffering!!!” 8:10:55 PM 11/28/05 “Be careful up there! Its real easy to get lost in your thoughts (its what I like best about painting.)” 8:51:19 PM 11/28/05 “You're doing such a great job of painting that I'm thinking of inviting you to come over and help paint(do) my place, while you still have a good grip on your paint brush. Don't quit!” 10:00:45 PM 11/28/05 “One summer I painted the inside of one of our high schools. It is huge, the paint was off-white oil based. It was hot. The fumes were bad. The lift was alot of fun though. =) After awhile your hand feels like it's permanently in that paint brush (or roller) death grip. I highly recommend treating yourself to a massage after you finish Cyndeee. Hope the work goes by fast.” 10:20:11 PM 11/28/05 “One day they'll come up with a way to dip-paint your home. :) Glooop! DONE. Be careful up there, and consider maybe hooking in to something. That's higher than most guys go in the tree stands.” 2:08:04 AM 11/29/05 “Whew! We painted like mad over the weekend. Rented a scissor lift to do the 2nd floor - thank god we were smart enough to buy a small home. The lift is easy to use, but the path on the side of our house is quite narrow. It's been a huge challenge to get the thing in there because of a big bush we have near the gate. Then, we finally figured out how to drive it down the side - we put bricks down in the pea gravel (so one side on the concrete, one on the bricks put on the pea gravel). Then after each time we drive the thing about 10 feet we pick up the bricks and move them down to the next position. Sheesh! As soon as it's light enough this morning we'll finish up - just a couple more windows and small sections of walls and we'll be done. My arm is killing me!” 6:52:27 AM 9/17/07 “I feel for you. I painted virtually the interior of my place and it was a #&%!$.” 6:55:46 AM 9/17/07 “That sounds hard, Bowlder! What color did you paint it? We painted two rooms over the weekend...I never really painted much before, I didn't realize how hard it is. My parents were here to help and show us what the heck to do! And my mommy made us new curtains. We painted our room, and the baby's room...it's very adorable.” 7:07:44 AM 9/17/07 “We had quite a bit of painting to do when we moved into our house earlier in the summer. I have nothing to complain about though. My dad didn't trust me to cut in without making a mess, so he did it himself. All I had to do was roll it out. Cake.” 7:47:33 AM 9/17/07 “I had to strip down a 18 x 20 deck this summer. Talk about torture!!! Still have to paint it, but I'm afraid to paint it before the fall is over... I don't want it to peel again next summer. We are hoping to have a run of 1 week plus of good weather. If so, we might be able to paint it this summer.” 2:16:26 PM 9/17/07 “We went with a pure white with dark green trim. Here's what it looked like before: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/1330966574037037243eNWVDU Bluish gray, with blue trim. No photos of the new color yet - still have a few spots that need to get touched up, but won't need the lift. Yeah, we've done the interior painting stuff before, including when we first moved in - we painted dawn to dusk for 8 straight days when we moved in. Then we've done a couple of rooms at a time every few years. I think our bedroom and the upstairs bathroom are next.... I'm sure the baby's room is adorable, lyra - what else could we expect from Her Adorableness?! It's hard work, but is quite satisfying when you're done, and pretty much anyone can do it....” 2:21:03 PM 9/17/07 “I can't paint. My vision and stance is far too wide.” 4:20:20 PM 9/17/07 “Almost done. After BowlderGal's dad headed back to Michigan, we had just a few things left on our house: - Two small 2nd storey sections that could only be reached from the roof. - Two window borders that need a 2nd coat. - The front door and jamb. - A 2nd coat on the front porch and stairs. On Saturday, I tackled the scraping of the first item above. It was a beautiful day, about 75 and sunny. What I didn't realize is that the roof gets REALLY hot - I actually burned my butt, even though I was wearing jeans. Nothing serious, but I have a sore red patch on my skin where I was sitting! On Sunday, I painted those two areas with primer. So now I have paint all over my hands and forearms. It'll wear off in a week or two - hope it sticks to the wood and previous paint as well as it sticks to my skin!” 8:12:08 AM 10/01/07 “Try rubbing your arms with vegetable or olive oil. It should help remove the paint and leave your skin nice and soft.” 9:11:56 AM 10/01/07 “I hate painting, but thinkbubelz & I still have lots to do on our deck... GRRR.... The weather this coming weekend is supposed to be warm and sunny. I am hoping we can do all of our painting then!!! Bowlderman--for future reference there is a "barrier cream" that you can use (called "invisible glove" or something like that). It helps to make it easier to wash off the paint... :-)” 9:16:07 AM 10/01/07 “Why does this thread make me think of Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel every time I see it?” 9:46:53 AM 10/01/07 “Yes, pink! A friend stopped by yesterday afternoon and told me about Invisible Gloves - I am heading to the hardware store this week!” 9:46:57 AM 10/01/07 “I finished! Photos to be taken later today - posted by tomorrow....” 9:15:41 AM 10/08/07 “Here's a before pic, from when we replaced the front lawn last year: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/1330966574037037243eNWVDU And here are a couple of after pics from yesterday: http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2378692560037037243JYXSDr http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2272038630037037243Tzpiyj BowlderDadInLaw did a fantastic job!! (he did about 75% of it)” 8:06:53 PM 10/15/07 “Nice place!” 4:30:10 AM 10/16/07 “Nice work! That's a lot of paint. You should be a pro at blocking karate chops now. =) You have a beautiful front door, and grass. I'm slightly jealous of both.” 4:35:16 AM 10/16/07 “Just remembered the name of that movie.... The Agony and the Ecstasy (1965), Â < VBG >” 5:00:24 AM 10/16/07 “Sweet transformation! Bet you're glad that job's done, huh?” 5:39:38 AM 10/16/07 “YEE-HAW!!!!!” 6:17:32 AM 10/16/07
