Can I come meet ya'll
It has been many months since I have really had a chance to get on here but I sure would love to come and meet ya'll on Friday night since it will be less than an hour away from the house.
I would sign up for the trip but the new girlfriend does not have the gear to handle the weather and I can't leave her alone.
Room for one more friday around the fire?

Ya'll need anything?
Looks like we are deffinately coming; I have wrangled up some gear although it is a Mexican (El Cheapo) tent. I never owned a tent but she insists on one. Weather is looking like showers but it still should be warm. What would ya'll like me to bring to contribute for food or recreation? I happen to have a mason jar of some squeezin's that is by far and away the best I have ever had.

i'll throw one of my two person tents in my car. if you want to use it, no problem, if not, no problem. i'll either be in my bivy or a one man tent, depending on the weather.

The name was tagged on me years ago going up the old profile trail on Grandfather; needless to say I was way out of shape and carrying everything but the kitchen sink.

Slimmer and somewhat smarter now. Only train I hop is Tweetsie :)

I am off Friday so if anyone needs anything just shout. I live about an hour from there.

Baume 66 Thanks for the offer but I think the "Walmart Special" will handle what we are going to do. She just wants privacy; I can't stand that lil dome -- reminds me of an Apollo mission.

Weather Outlook for the Weekend
Friday PM Showers High: 57° Low: 29°

Sat. Snow Showers/Wind High: 39° Low: 23°

Sun. Partly Cloudy High: 47° Low: 30°

This is the forecast for the Blowing Rock Area; and the top of the Gorge typically mimics that area.

Combine the weather with Pinch In (1500+) drop in elevation in just over a mile and this will be an adventure.

Well I feel like an idiot. I have been planning on going this weekend. Luckily I have next weekend off too. So I am still in.

Just for conversation sake, they are calling for 2-5 inches of snow tomorrow up there and I am stoked. I am gonna go camping somewhere up in the Boone area tomorrow.

I might break down and buy the backpacker guitar before coming iffin I can find one. The pawn shops have new ones and seem to sell them quickly so I've been hoping to find a used one because they might be a little cheaper.

I will be in Newport, TN that afternoon and it is only about another 25 miles over to Hot Springs, NC.

I need to look at the map and see if I can pick my way through there or if I am better off to go around and over 1-40.

You best be glad you are not there (not far from here) right now.

Lightning, pouring rain and extreme wind the last couple of hours

with an imminent precipitous drop in temperature, dramatic increase in wind speed and change from heavy rain to heavy freezing stuff shortly.

I'd like to be there but I'm a few miles away and a good bit lower. Judging from the current accuweather map, it may even snow here before midnight.

Tomorrow will be brisk on the rim of Linville Gorge.
