backpack for NZ trip

“Hi all-
I am looking for some help as I prepare to ship off for the country of new zealand in about 5 weeks. I am going with a friend and we will be gone for 6 months and just backpacking around the country. I'm looking for a good backpack that can handle my upcoming excursion and was wondering if anybody knew of a good one. This is my first time out of the country and I'm just going to go. Any help regarding a backpack choice or any other equipment needs and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

“First of all, are you a male or female?

Second, get yourself to a REI store or to a specialty sports that sell large packs that will fit them to your torso length. I, as well as most here would recommend a REI store. They will fit the pack and add weight to it so you can walk around the store all day. Try a few on and be prepaired to shell out some bucks. Remamber, this will be your home for the time you are there. Make sure it is something that fits well and feels good.

After a pack, you need to worry about footwear. I reccomend that you visit the shoe department first at REI and get their opinion as to whay style of shoe you should use. After that and iwht the shoes/boots on, check out the pack department.
