Just how low will the Left go???
American anti-war activists march in Cuba
By ANITA SNOW, Associated Press Writer
Published Wednesday, December 7, 2005

HAVANA (AP) - American anti-war activists marched Wednesday from the eastern Cuban city of Santiago toward the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay to protest treatment of terror suspects there.

The 25 members of the Witness Against Torture group had hoped to begin their daylong march a day earlier, but spent Tuesday negotiating with Cuban communist officials about how close they could get to the American military installation, the protesters said by telephone.

Cuba and the United States have had no diplomatic relations for more than four decades, and the American base is surrounded by a miles-wide Cuban military zone peppered with mines.

It seemed unlikely that the marchers would be allowed to cross the military zone to reach the U.S. base's gate and demand that American sentries let them visit the prisoners, as they initially had planned.

"We're really saddened and horrified by what's going on in Guantanamo and the other prisons" where the U.S. military holds terror suspects, said marcher Susan Crane of Baltimore. "Our hope is to get as close as we can (to the base)."

"We want the prisoners to know we care about them," she added.

Most of the marchers arrived Monday in Santiago, about 50 miles southwest of Guantanamo, from the Dominican Republic. Among them was Frida Berrigan, daughter of the late Phil Berrigan, a former Roman Catholic priest whose fight against the Vietnam War and nuclear weapons helped ignite a generation of anti-war dissent.

The United States holds about 500 terror suspects at the remote base in Guantanamo. The U.S. government says they are enemy combatants, not prisoners of war, and are not entitled to the same rights afforded under the Geneva Conventions.

News Flash! Cuba is a Dictatorship with thousands of Human Rights violations and an enemy to America, but that's OK to the Loony Lefties.

Isn't it still illegal for a private citizen to visit Cuba?

News flash! The protest was not in favor of Cuba, but against prisoner abuse by the US.

Americans can travel to Cuba legally if you are a Cuban American, politician, journalist or if you have a research project regarding Cuba. Others including students, religious groups, and humanitarians can apply for a license from the U.S. Treasury Department Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

But yes us freedom loving Americans are otherwise forbiden to travel to Cuba. On the other hand the peace loving country of North Korea is not forbiden. Oh the great US of A.

It is, of course possible, that these folks are caring, concerned, righteous humanitarians who truly abhor what they believe to be inhumane treatment of "detainees" in the custody of our (their) government.

Why do you call them names when they are actually "putting their money where their mouth is?"

SS, you are a flaming idiot. You think mistreatment of detainees (whether true or not) would be okay because they are butchers, fly planes into skyscrapers, hang burnt bodies from bridges and speak ferrin'.

You probably can come up with some fascist justification for the Abu Graid fiasco. You probably believe that "they are enemy combatants, not prisoners of war, and are not entitled to the same rights afforded under the Geneva Conventions."

Go to church. Pray for your salvation.

Have you seen the way sarge went south so quick on the religion thread. Now that is a true conservative. I believe you, SS, were the one who got personal with me first in our last discusion. Although the person stuff seems to bother us lefties less. I have seen the conservaties more than once leave the thread crying after a person retort.

"Oh boo hoo hoo. I am going to block you".

(I hope that wasn't too personal)

mjc - If by saying I "went south", you mean I "pointed out the lying and name calling the left was doing" when we were having a rational discussion, then I agree with you.

SS was this just a way to lighten the load on sarge? If so you are a crafty troll. If not I still applaud your trolling.

I think i shall make this my signature.

On a side note did you notice how careful Rice was in her speech in Europre about the torture of prisoners?

And the whole time she has no idea these prisoners would cut her head off in their god's name.

Hey everyone,
I'm finally posting on the infamous trailtlak, or "the backpecker site" as Sarge used to call it. Unfortunately, it's not under circumcision which I'd like.

I'm writing to you because you meant a twot to Snarge. "The fudgepacker site I go to" is a phrase I heard many times in conversations with him. He'd often whine and bellyache about things written on this site, and sometimes say "check this out" and he'd show me his weiner. We'd laugh at the size of it, and we'd sometimes try to come up with new ways to "make things interesting" and "stir the pot", if you know what I mean.

But, as you may have guessed, Barge, whose real name was Crack-ho, died unexpectedly. Three days ago on Friday, at about 5:15pm, Dimwit was the victim of a fatal colon rupture, caused when his boyfriend buggered him one too many times.

I realize none of y'all knew Jim in real life, so I want to tell you a little about him, as I'm sure he would've liked me to do if he warn't daid.

I can assure you that Jim was a good man. He had a tight tushy, loved his buddies (in more ways than one), his fiends, and KY jelly. I knew him to be convicted, yet he listened drunkenly to others and enjoyed the challenging (and fun) conversations online in gay chatrooms. He was a good friend and proud ex-heterosexual. He loved to troll elementary schools and even had an optional major knee surgery so that he could stay active.

Thanks everyone!

Watch out Nigal, sarge would cut your head off for asking how religion is different from mythology. Extremist are everywhere and of all religions.

You can care about the prisoner's being treated justly and still want to see justice served. If it is proven that they cut anyone's head off in the name a religion then let them hang. The problem is there is not even an attempt being made to prove anything.

Our country could have handled this much better and been seen by as a great just power. Instead we are torturing people to death, taking pictures, and laughing about it.

Good show.
